Finally wiring everything up thanks to KClav’s write up. Based on the relay recommended in the notes, pin 86 is white and 85 is black. Using the diagram, looks the black wire (pin 85) would go to the self locking relay and the white wire (pin 86) would be used as a ground.

Looking at the picture in shocker88s post, looks like these are flipped. Assume these can be used interchangeably? Meaning I can just use pin 85 as a ground and pin 86 to the self-locking relay on the “input” side with the 3 slots

Correct. 85 and 86 are generally interchangeable on a relay. If you reverse the hookup , the coil will still activate the relay. Note, there are some relays with diodes included to protect sensitive electronics and they have to be wired with 86 as the ground.

Complete rookie when it comes to electrical, if any SR5 owners could chime in unsure what to t-tap into for switch illumination since I don't have power mirrors I would really appreciate the help.

I have a Limited without the power mirrors but still had the harness stubbed there. You may have it too, not sure.

Thanks for all the help. Really do appreciate the patience and guidance and now learned a few new skills in the process.

Got everything wired up and tested to be functioning appropriately. Now just gotta make time to do the rest and swap the grill over and do the inside wiring now.

Looking at the Sparks page, is the $24+ shipping cost normal?

Sorry, I didn't clarify. The shipping, alone, is $24+.

Yup, I got an email back from Sparks. Shipping is $24 to go two states away. I'm going to have to look elsewhere for a switch.

@KClav - thanks for the thorough wiring instructions.
A quick question - in your setup, when you cycle through the different brightness levels by using the 'Instrument Panel Light Control Switch' (upload_2024-2-9_0-35-48.png), then does the illumination brightness of the newly installed TRD Light Bar switch also change?

Good catch. It does NOT dim with the panel and other switches. I wonder if there’s a better spot to tap for the power?

@KClav - thanks for confirming that.

I'm now looking at the 2022 Tundra wiring diagrams to identify the illumination circuit for borrowing the dimming feature from existing factory switches. I shall get some time to try out a few options in about 2 weeks and will then post my results.

For now, I have squeezed it through the side of the existing firewall rubber grommet. Didn't want to drill another hole in the metal panel and then have to deal with preventing its rusting.

Has anyone found an actual already made plug in harness ready to wire up to the factory TRD light bar switch 84163-YY010 I've tried one from Amazon and rave offroad, Both buttons where too small. Toyota OE one is a perfect fir but has no harness. I saw the one k-clav made and that's great but I'd rather buy one made.

there’s a small nub grommet on the drivers side on the firewall. See attached for how I ran my wires which was through the aforementioned grommet, tucked wiring in the cowling (you can see where I zip tied to keep it easy to access if needed in top left of second photo), used the existing grounding point and drilled small hole into the fuse box to run the add a fuse. In hindsight, I wish I would have drilled into the fuse box from the backside to keep everything more tucked but don’t have a right angle drill and didn’t want to remove the whole assembly. I later went back and tucked the wiring better on the passenger side that ran to the lightbar but you get the idea.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but did you ever find the correct wire to tap for dimmable illumination? I will note that most aftermarket kits say to tap the tan wire. Can anyone confirm if that does it?

I don't get my truck until early Dce - but i've already picked up most of the parts i need based on @KClav 's pdf....unless its controlled via canbus - i'd start with the the wires into the dimmer switch and monitor the voltage as you press it.

Let us know how it goes. I went ahead and tapped the tan wire as the aftermarket kits suggest and my TRD Lightbar switch does NOT dim with the other lights, so ... It turns out I run everything on full bright most of the time, so no big deal for me. But I'm sure we would all like to know how to get it *right*.

Looks like it would work, I’d just test it after plugging into the switch but before continuing with the full install.

To make the backlight illumination of the Light Bar switch dimmable (based on cycling the 'Instrument Panel Light Control Switch'), the following change needs to be done to the wiring diagram uploaded by @KClav:

    upload_2025-1-7_16-49-3.png

From the above-mentioned wiring diagram of the Light Bar switch (PT45A-34220-AA), connect PIN 7 (ILLUMINATION -) to the ILL- wire of any of the factory OEM switches mentioned in this thread below:

    --------------
    --------------

I joined PIN 7 of the Light Bar switch in my Sequoia to the ILL- wire connected to PIN 1 of the existing factory 'Auto High Beam Switch' and now the backlight of the Light Bar switch dims perfectly when cycling the 'Instrument Panel Light Control Switch'.

So which color wire are we looking to tap for cycled illumination in the 3rd gen tundra? I can confirm tan wire turns on with dash lighting but does NOT dim with the cycle.

OK, can you be more specific? Where is this tan wire connected to? (The new Light Bar switch or to an existing OEM switch?) It is important to reference the specific PIN number from the wiring diagrams. These wiring diagrams are from 2022 3rd Gen Tundra.
