I have a 3rd Gen '24 Tundra Limited TRD OR and wanted to upgrade the exhaust system but Toyota dealers aren't selling the TRD Pro system. So was looking at AWE, MagnaFlow, Borla, etc.

Was wondering if anyone installed any of the many aftermarket systems and was taking static from either the Toyota dealer or Toyota USA regarding threats of warranty cancellation. Seems it would be covered under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. After all, it is Cat Back and you're not changing any parts of the engine, etc. I never had any problems doing this in the past with my other Tundra's. But hearing a lot of stories regarding warranty cancellation, etc.

Want to get some input before I install any non-Toyota exhaust parts.

That system does sound a little weak, but I'm also not looking for something too loud, but performance is a priority or why get anything. The ones I looked into all sound good, but hard to tell about any of them without
experiencing the sound in person. so will keep looking for the top performance figures. If the stories are correct about trying to cancel your warranty, it would seem like a weak excuse on Toyota's part just because they screwed up the 3rd gen engine's.
Trying to weed out the those who won't fight back from those who are forced to take legal action.

    A couple thoughts.

It would be Toyota’s responsibility to prove that your car-back exhaust caused whatever catastrophic failure may present itself in the future. I think this would be a tough sell on their part, but would probably keep the OEM parts in case my motor blew up…

It’s very unlikely that you’re going to notice any appreciable performance gains from a simple cat-back system. Toyota doesn’t put shit exhaust systems on their vehicles, and there isn’t likely a lot left on the table beyond tonal changes. In our world of manufacturers trying to eek as much efficiency as they can, the exhaust would be low hanging fruit for maximizing efficiency. But, you can improve the sound…

Tig Welding Creations was a consistent contributor and vendor here. He’s got an exhaust that folks seem to like for 3rd gens, but I don’t think he’s on Tundras anymore. I believe you can find him on the Gram or FB.

The stock muffler is the restriction point in the stock exhaust system. Simply removing the resonator in favor of a dual tip, doesn’t gain anything.

once you remove the stock muffler in favor of a flow thru design you get a myriad of problematic frequencies.

    drone
    Raspiness

These trucks actually drone at 2 frequencies and at 2 different rpm ranges. Then of course you have the ‘Raptor’ sound.

I have designed a system which simply bolts on or clamps on and it resolves the above issues. It uses a muffler, a resonator and a Helmholtz chamber. Very unique.

Just a muffler alone won’t resolve these issues. Nor will a simple j pipe.

+1 for Keith and Dirty Deeds! My 2020 sounds much more like a pickup should after adding one of his cat back systems…. But can’t speak to what any system will do on your V6….

We make it sound similar to a Cummins at idle and low rpm. GTR when accelerating.

Plus, talkin smack on other vendors when copying their design also is frowned upon.

Daaaanngggg! Sorry, Keith. I kinda forgot that @dirtydeeds has a system for 3rd gens.

Shoot, I still have that new 10” system I got from you sitting in the garage for my ‘18. Haven’t even opened the box yet…

Keith was great to work with over the phone and shipping was much faster than I expected.

I ordered a TWC exhaust Sept 2nd and still haven't received it. The only person I know he's sent one out to recently is because they filed something against him with Paypal.

I would have desputed it already. He was booted from here, don't know if it's permanent. He was also doing some shady stuff on FB. Plus he was talking smack about DD, which is a know exhaust that works.

I tried but at the time he seemed like a reputable guy with good reviews. I paid friends and family so I'd say I'm out 800 at this point.

dang man sorry to hear. he did post something recently on FB about production slowing cause of life responsibilities. I'm not defending the guy but I did talk to him on the phone and I even went to his home/shop to discuss some exhaust work in the past. I wouldn't think he'd give out his address if he was looking to scam folks. Hopefully he comes through and you get your product.

I like ya Keith and I highly respect the fact that you're always looking to help folks but eh bad take. I never saw the dude post anything negative or talk smack in a way that violates the code of conduct, but maybe someone here has screenshots of him talking smack disrespectfully.
As far as copying the product, unless you got proof that every little detail on his product matches the spec of yours, the dude is getting falsely accused, there's so many fabricators now that at some point similar ideas are going to be created.

The dude voluntarily deleted his account, but he did get a temp ban, assuming it was for the photo of the political product he posted, which yes deserved, since we all know politics are not allowed.

I wasn't going to say anything but sucks to be on the end of something like that. Unless your going to post the proof why make comments like those. Can't be pointing the finger at others, when you got 3 pointed back at you for being disrespectful.

Once again, respect everything you've done for the community but bad take...

Given the fact they don't appear to be friends, I'd argue that professionalism was tossed out the window when "others" began bashing a superficial finish on another business' longstanding product. Maybe it was a pack mentality, maybe dude really did make the the best product ever offered, maybe dude thought he was being funny, but dude appeared to come in with eyes set on a specific vendor. Dont know the backstory of why it immediately went there, but adopting a # meant to insult a product (or person) isn't cool.

As history continues to show on this site, you know who continues to deliver? The approved vendor.

Larger than this specific instance, I do wish the macho newbie bs would stop. Read the room, integrate, contribute, and enjoy whatever rewards follow. Bashing other businesses right out of the gate isn't exactly a winning strategy.

Maybe there's more backstory Im not aware of. Having watched the other thread, I'm not sure it would sway my above position.

I can tell you that TWC and others here jumped on the same bandwagon and talked shit about Keith's BBQ paint job. But TWC and those others don't understand the benefit of painting an exhaust. Same benefits you get when you wrap turbo hot pipes or put a blanket on the exhaust turbine housing. But those that jumped on the bandwagon just wanted the shinny, unproven, handmade exhaust.

Yea sucks how that whole situation went, but I do remember seeing the tig product posted by another member first before tig even made an account here. Pretty sure he popped up after being accused of copying though. Like I mentioned never saw the dude disrespect anybody, only say that he didn't copy anyone and that hes been a fab guy for so many years. On the other hand yea I saw the bandwagon and it got out of hand but that's why the mods are here to handle those situations.

It's great that the approved vendor continues to deliver, but an approved vendor is also going to be held to a higher standard. Yes defend your product and if you have the proof that your product was blatantly copied post the proof with it. It's also possible to defend your product without disrespecting any member. Now if members are being disrespectful to the vendor then report it to the mods and have them handle the situation.

I agree that the macho newbie crap needs to stop. There's enough room in the market for multiple businesses.

and I'll add I don't own a TWC product but I do own a DD product.

Yea the whole bandwagon situation was a mess. But that's why the report function exists, if the members got disrespectful, report and let the mods handle it.

Keith has obviously put many year's of r&d to his Tundra products and he's a wealth of knowledge. I highly respect that he's always willing to help and share what he knows.
But as a vendor he's going to be held to a higher standard. Defend your product, make your claims but also post your proof.
