so i have a 23 tundra non hybrid that i couldn't get evo one to work and now factory remote isn't working. reason for 3rd party was didn't want to pay 15/m for Toyota's overpriced remote start but i guess i'm going to have to now. Any how i triple checked the wiring /splices prior to install so wiring was good. followed the procedures and all the lights during setup worked the dycryptor worked, but when i went to remote start nothing except my key fob temporarily stopped responding to doors and push button. so i went back and changed the setting to unlock door prior to start figuring the alarm blacking it and nothing but key fob not responding no push button start. not knowing what caused it i removed it reconnected the pink wire that had to be cut and after a few min i could start the car and open/close doors. went in the Toyota app subscribed to the remote connect and all is well except factory remote start is no longer working gives me a d5 error and to contact dealer on the app. every went through everything top to bottom and everything else in car and app works just not remote start. So i connected my scan tool and now i get an u111787 lost communication with accessory gateway for bcm and special key. did i fry the control module or did i break the pink wire in connector. like i said every other function works just fine only remote start I've installed the evo one multiple times in older cars with out a problem. I'm hoping when i take it to dealer its an easy fix like a relearn or something but i fear it will be an expensive fix.

I'm doubting its the pink wire as if it was that id have other issues as well.

does it sound like I'm screwed i have no intentions of trying to install the remote start again. ill deal with the factory i only need it during winter just to defrost windows and warm up the oil. ill just leave it be for now if i have to and just deal with no remote start its not the end of the world its just more of a convenience than anything i can live with out it if the rest of the module continues working as normal as i feel its going to be at least 1k to fix and wont have that till summer at earliest

any helpful info to avoid the dealer would be greatly appreciated

Did you know that you can remote start with your FOB without a subscription?

Seems to be a common oversight.

i was aware but the ascl6 or ascl7 is only 40 a amonth and i already had an ascl6 and the remote start from the tacoma we had leased only needed the t harnes. t harnes and anual subscription to ascl6 cell plan was $40
i liked remote starting before i left work as its a 10 min walk from far corner of building. cant remote start with key fob either now.

Sorry, I can't help you with whatever aftermarket system you are using. Don't even know what "evo one" means.

I subscribe to the "if ain't broken..." philosophy. My FOB remote start works fine for my purposes, and I don't need subscriptions or special gadgets to start my truck.

To be honest, I'm amused by how many threads we get regarding remote start. It's way down the list of features I care about on my truck.

i got a response back from fortin about why there box fried part of my body control module. turns out it didn't cause an damage apparently during the modules programming phase it disables the onboard remote start on the bcm which also throws the u111787 codes on the bcm. so i went on my scan tool i got off Amazon and sure enough i found the remote start option and flipped it from active to inactive and everything works again and the codes no longer show up. now i just need for them to tell my why it was rendering my key fobs useless for minutes at a time

its all idata stuff, not sure who makes that. There was actually no need to mail it out...they give you a username and password to config the module from home...you can mail it out if you're not comfortable doing that but I took care of it in a few mins.

It's pretty fussy about getting the click sequence correct each time. Plus the range is very low so make sure your FOB battery is good. I mostly park outside and usually have to walk out to the garage so I'm closer to the truck before it works.

    This ^^^

Keep your FOB battery fresh, and experiment with different click sequence timing. It took several attempts for me to get the timing down. I also agree, the range on the FOB remote start isn't great.

And FYI, I never activated any of the connected services, even for the free trial. So, I'm pretty confident the FOB remote start has nothing to do with the subscriptions.

Thanks for the advice. I will experiment later today. I did have he remote connect for the year trial period which is now expired. I have used it via the remote. I just haven't been able to get it working for the last couple of weeks. I'll give it another go.

I have now tried remote start several times in the last two days. Tried both fobs. Three presses of lock on fob. Holding on third press. I can't get it to work at all.
So am I doing something wrong or is it disabled on my truck?

I hold the last press for 5 flashes of the LED. Doesn't always work the first time..... How close are you to the truck? If I try from my living room, it doesn't work but does if I go to the garage. It's only a 10 foot difference plus one wall.

I tried it last night about 15 feet away. This morning about 10 feet away.

Still nothing. Maybe I need to ask the dealer.
