I have the same issue with my 15 FF Tundra every winter. Easily fixed reseting it with Techstream.

Thank you sir. Currently having this same issue. Plugged up my cheap scan tool just to read the ETH content and it’s at 85%. I will buy the scan tool and do the same.

I have to admit, I am pretty happy with my inexpensive Launch Toyota model scan tool. It is a little slow and clunky, but for the price paid I can't complain. I was able to program a new key fob for my 08 Sequoia with it, I changed the door lock settings on my Camry, diagnosed and reset TPMS problems, and took care of the alcohol density relearn with my Tundra. It has certainly paid for itself in short order.

Has anyone done this with a snap on scanner. Trying to find it using mine. I currently have this issue.

Which scan tool are you referring to? I couldn't access the fuel reset with the Launch Creader tabletop my 2010 sequoia.

It's updated so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it's something with my Sequoia.

Are you sure it’s a flex fuel model?

I will have to check mine, but it doesn't look like yours, mine is orange and a different screen. If I remember right there is a tab for "service function" that is where you need to go, it's within the engine ecm tab.

Has anyone tried the new Launch X431 CRP919E Lite version for the reset? Or is the Elite version the only one that works?

My '16 model has started doing this intermittently. I'm out of warranty and I'm not keen on the dealer keeping it for a few days to finally decide to reset it only to have the matter return and them keep it a few day to repeat the process. So I'm fine with getting a scanner and doing it myself. Glad to see there are numerous options to choose from for a scanner. My question is, which one is most "idiot proof" from a usability viewpoint? I don't care about the option to reprogram key fobs if that's a point of distinction.

I borrowed an xtool d7 from Amazon and went to scan the alcohol. Was reading the live data and the percentage was either 0 or flashed no table data constantly. When I went to look at it as a graph, I would see occasional spikes to 88%. Another interesting thing I saw was the fuel type was mainly showing ethanol but would occasionally flash gasoline or no table data. What’s up with the constant flashing of no table data and the fuel type showing as just ethanol? I noticed a lot of the parameters kept rapidly flashing between a value and no table data.

Well, it ain't the tool because the creader elite tool I used had ethanol for fuel type too. I've had a mechanic try and play with the percentage to see how the truck would run and he couldn't get the ECU to accept the numbers he put in. A value would change but the "real" value stayed the same. Almost as if two tunes were running concurrently.

My 2016 started to having crank issue with this cold weather. I got the Launch scanner and was able to reset the alcohol density level (now it run fine). My buddy 2016 start to do the same. We reset the alcohol density but it would not hold. It continue with hard starting problem. So, we took it to the dealer with the TSB T-SB-0166-19 document. They wanted 1200 to flash the ECU. After a few minute of intense conversation, they decide to do it for free. Now the truck run fine. I am sure we will have to reset the alcohol level at some point again ( for both truck). If anyone in the central florida need help, I have the scanner and will help in resetting the value. Just message me.

I bought the Launch Creader Elite T on Tuesday arrived today for $107 shipped. Updated it, plugged it in and my alcohol density was 85.1%. Reset it, checked to confirm 0 and cold started with gusto!

Guess I need some help. I purchased the Launch CRP919X Lite and I have updated everything and have tried to reset my alcohol density but I am unable to find it. It does a VIN search and finds vehicle and i run diagnostics but I am unable to find any way to reset sensor. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I don’t think that model supports it, or any service functions from what I can tell. I looked it up on Amazon and went to their site, for a 21 Tundra it only does some ABS stuff, that is it. The Launch I have is the Toyota specific model, yours seems to be a global obd2 model made to cover a wide range of vehicles. The special programing probably isn’t there for Toyota specifically. Do you have the link where you purchased yours from?

I would return it, I don’t see anywhere that it does anything useful with Toyota vehicles.

I think the cheapest option is eBay for the c reader elite.

I purchased this same version from Amazon but have been unable to find the setting to reset the alcohol percentage. How did you find that function? I have only been able to access “live data stream” and relearn fuel density setting but that was it.

Fuel density is what you want. That’s another term for alcohol %. Alcohol has a lower fuel density than gasoline.
