Pulling the D/F axle to replace inner CV joint boot. Pulled the bearing dust cap to find a 12 Point 36mm(?) spindle nut, I was expecting a 6 point.

All the 36mm sockets I find locally are typical hi-torque 6 point sockets. HF has a 36mm box wrench, dunno if a wrench will slip on the nut with the dust seal lip in the way?

    Suggesions???

THANK GAWD FOR YOU GUYS WHOM HAVE GONE THERE BEFORE ME!!!!

Is that 36mm 12 point nut normal for these trucks (or is it an aftermarket addition)? Asking so I can be prepared for any future front end work that may require CV removal

A few... Definitely more than 2
I pulled mine to do the ECGS bushing and since I was anticipating only doing it once I went with a cheap Amazon set with multiple sockets for the same price I could buy a single for locally.

I don't remember the exact size I used but it was in this set, and I have also ended up using one of the smaller ones on my SPC upper control arm nut so I think it worked out fine for me.

    Their rental was a 6pt.

Been a few years and my memory ain’t so good anymore but I’m almost definitely it’s a 39mm. Unless yours is aftermarket.

Also can't remember but I will check my sockets later today and I will be able to tell which one I used

In the meantime 39mm seems to be correct

    Ignore the videos.
    Well, IT AIN’T NO 36mm 12pt.!!!!
    It’s larger. I am guessing a 38mm 12pt.

I am headed to NAPA for the CV clamp tool, hopefully they’ll have one. If not, back to O’Reilly’s!

A “simple” 3.5” Level Kit has become one issue after another… ARgHhhh.

    NOTE TO SELF:
Pay the measly $800 next time for the shop installation!!!
