I'm sure he did not engage the "TOW" or "TOW+". It is why he couldn't tow. It happened to me when I first towed my boat and didn't change from "eco" to "tow"

Sure it takes a genius to read specs of what you buy for $70k

    Yes, brain damage

The 3rd gen Tundra comes with 8 airbags and apparently this one came with an extra one in the front seat :D

My GF loves to tease me. I guess it is because of 30 years of age difference.
Hope my wife doesn't find out.

I added airbags to my 2023 SR5 with TRD Off Road package due to sag. The truck provided a beautiful ride solo, but a pathetic sag with any amount of weight. Even the weight of the fiberglass cap made it sag. I got Airlift bags with the compressor. I am happy I did it. The bags did stiffen the ride when solo, but it is worth it to me.

When I purchased it, was told it had every option. Hense buyer regret. Have owned a lot of trucks over the past 40 years and have been able to tow what I needed to tow without adding air bags. Had hoped the Tundra would handle it. I know the older Tunras have a better built in suspension.

Thank you. Which bags and compressor did you go with? And yes I also put a fiberglass shell on and got a tiny bit of sag from it as well.

Def not a troll. Have pulled trailers for close to 40 years. Have hauled a lot of different style trailers and hauled all over the US. For the larger trailers I use my F450 not the truck I want to drive daily. I should be able to tow my work trailer and smaller boat with any model 1/2 ton truck. the latest model Tundra just lacks in handling weight.

I own a F450 that I can use to tow my larger boat. My work trailer should be able to be towed with any 1/2 ton as its gross weight isnt that bad. In fact I can move my work trailer, if empty, with a john deere gator. When hooked to my Tundra it drops it alot.

Not "better" but different type. Older Tundras have leaf spring style suspension. The 2022+ has coil springs with control arm style. Most do not tow often or heavy and have no need for what a truck is really made for. Work. People who use their trucks for work need different things than the average car driver, but those drivers now want trucks and shake fist fulls of money at car companies, so they respond with what the market wants. And those people want to drive a car that looks like a big tough man's truck. Coils can give a better ride, leafs are capable of the heavy duty work that trucks were originally meant for.

I personally like the aftermarket airbag solutions anyway over the factory ones. Now you have a path to get it leveled out and be happy with your purchase.

Besides the sag, how do you enjoy the truck pulling?

Im curious why is that, the OEM system is great on these trucks?

Or is that based on other different past OEM set-ups?

I was disappointed in the sag myself, but it rides good when empty, so I didn't want to ruin that. Sumo springs were my fix & they even ride well with weight on the truck. The truck doesn't need much, just a little help with that sag. Can't stand the "Carolina squat" look!

This is either a tongue weight issue, or there is something wrong with the OPs truck. It should tow what he is describing with no issues. My Tundra tows my inshore boat so easily, and the truck might drop 1" when I connect the trailer (6,500 gvw).

Initial and replacement cost. I've only seen a couple Tundras's have ASA failures, but they were over 3k to repair.

Same, but my fix was Airlift airbags. 5 psi when running empty and no reduction of ride quality that I can tell.

I chose Sumo Springs to help with the sag... on my Tundra. They provide the little bit of help needed with sag without affecting the factory ride. I'm sure there are other solutions that work as well. If you have 40 years of towing experience, you'll be fine towing your boat with just a little help in the rear end.

Overall the truck is beyond comfortable and has a great ride. Have no issue going after market and hoping to see some good suggestions pop up for what others have put on their Tundra and worked well.

or covered under extended warranty , but I get what your saying.

I really like mine, rides awesome and its cool to lower it to hitch and then it keeps it perfectly level, toyota hit it out of the park with this one

That is why I contacted Toyota is to see if they can check everything out. Truck has a whopping 3k miles on it right now. I have friends with older Tundras and they seem to have no issue with towing the same weights.
