Despite the Town of Frisco removing station slaps, this one is still hiding.

NS Proto FR 161x. Copper is open until mid May, so we still got time.

    Nice
I’m going to squeeze one more season out of my ‘95 K2 Eldorado before I retire it. Thinking of dropping from a 169 to a 161…

Not sure what your proclivities are for riding switch/park (I don’t really anymore) but 161 with some width to it (and a directional tapered free ride style like that Never Summer that @sbxx312 posted) is a lot of fun when there’s more than 4-5” of the fluffy stuff.

Never been a park rider - the 169 is made for bombing groomers and surfing deep stuff. High speeds and long curves are my favorite.

I wouldn’t go smaller than 65. That K2 was such a hot deck in 95’. Love to see one at the hill once in a while

There’s a couple runs I really like here that get a little tight and technical and that’s what has me thinking a ~161 but I will need to do some demo tests to really decide.
May end up not retiring the Eldo either…it’s what I’ve known for so long. And it’s dead stable at 45-50mph…

I'm 6'0 with a 12 boot, so 161x has been the perfect size for me. I've been riding a 161x NS West for the last seven or eight years.

I still have my first real board - a 164x Gnu with Switch bindings. It's crazy how heavy that setup was.

They don't make it anymore sadly, but this is my 160 Roz: It's got plenty of float when its up to your thighs and I'm 195lbs, 11 boot.

Booked a hotel in Vermont this weekend, Hopefully driving up Friday and getting 2 days at sugarbush to end my season. Blue Mountain, PA (my closest mountain) was seeing some high temps last week and 70 degrees and rain tomorrow so safe to say it's season ending there.

Aiming to hit Colorado and/or Switzerland next year (Big Sky, MT still my favorite mountain I've been to)

Some fog and rain spring mush- but that’s what GoreTex is for, right? A little thin in spots, but the free stone grinds were easily avoidable.
oh and there were maybe 8 of us skiing (including patrollers).

Rain and high temps killing the northeast, cancelled Vermont and booked a flight to Bozeman, MT Sunday.

yeah was just there march 10-14th. No rush to go back haha. But mid week is always the move. It’s the best out here on east coast as my local mountain stays open until 9 pm so can easily shoot up after work too.

Well it's just NOT my year for snowboarding lol. Woke up at 4:30 am to get over to my parents to leave my truck there (squirrel problem at my house) and get a ride to the airport. Board the plane at 6:45 am. 7:15 pilot states computer is down and we have to de-board. Flight originally delayed until 8 am. (Had connection from SLC to Bozeman at 11 am SLC Time with originally landing 9:54 am SLC Time). Cutting it extremely close if we did leave at 8 am. Before even de-boarding the plane (I was last row) text alert said Flight now delayed to 9 am so no chance to hit connect. They push me to a 4:50 SLC flight to MT. Flight Delayed again until 1 pm and now won't be able to get me to Bozeman until Monday. Was only going Sunday - Wednesday and snowboarding Mon/Tues so cancelled the whole flight and trip. Bummer but I guess better to happen now than Wednesday when I am trying to get home at least. Got home and saw its now delayed until 6:10 pm est time lol. Just gotta laugh at it right? At this rate I might just roll over the extra PTO and take a 2 week drive out west.

Update Flight cancelled completely out of Philadelphia, just wasn't meant to be.

The new technology is great for riding a shorter board. I used to ride boards in the 164-167 range and my last few have been 160-161. My backcountry split is a 162. I can ride tighter trees with more speed and precision on the smaller deck. Rocker/camber profile is my deck of choice these days. I suggest you demo different brands and board designs to feel the difference. And then will you know if you like the newer tech or not compared to your tried and true. But as said above the boards made today are so much lighter.

Last day for me this season. A buddy and I went to Stratton, Vermont. Windy rainy mess but was awesome to get into some different terrain and some good ole Ice Coast spring madness.

Summit was freezing rain and 50mph, so your soaking wet gear would form a nice layer of ice on it until you got down mid mountain.

Glad to get 61 days on the snow this year.

Not today, but got out for a tour the other morning. Timing worked great. Had to start by boot packing because the snow was frozen and skins wouldn't have any purchase. Then rode 3,000 feet of nice soft corn all the way back to the truck.
Truck pic since it’s a tundra forum.

Dad time. It's ten degrees warmer at 9000ft. Gonna try and figure out this Proto FR at Copper.

    Cubs are on rain delay.
