Recently tried an LED in our stock 2007 Tail/Brake Lights, was not as bright as the bulb on opposite side, and had Less Red hugh to it, compared to opposite side. It was a white LED behind the red lens.

Is this normal? I was wanting to make the the Brake light brighter get more attention.

Also, haven't tried it but was curious if a RED LED would be more red or brighter behind the Red Lense.

The LED reverse light is really nice.

Yes, you need a red LED behind a red lense, to get the most out of the light. Think of it this way, the red lense filters all of the light except the red light out of the white LED, where as the red LED only emits red light.
White LED on left, red LED on right

Run red L.E.D.'s in your brake lights. The white ones look orange and discolored through the red lens.

    Try the red ones.

I put red LED's in my Scion xB and they made a HUGE difference. Super bright and super red.

Edit: Disregard. Got to the end and saw that's exactly what you did.
