The back seat of my Tacomas were able to fold in such a way as to leave the entire area flat. I could put a couple of dog beds down and transport my two Beagles, Ellie & Elmer to their heart's content. Heads out the windows, ears flying in the wind and always ready for any drive-through that offered doggie treats. My Tundra rear seats don't fold that way as you all are aware. Not really enough room for them on the seat and they can get hurt during quick stops. In my mind's eye, I can envision a platform (carpeted all around to protect scuffing the leather/vinyl seats) that I could quickly slide in and out that would rest on top of the seats and be sturdy enough for both of them to enjoy their Sat / Sun rides. Any ideas, diagrams, etc. would be greatly appreciated and Ellie & Elmer would be happier too.

We have two boxers. We use a nylon seat cover (designed for protection from dogs) that removes easily. We also harness them with Kurgo harnesses that are clipped into the seatbelt receptacle to prevent injury as well as keep them in he back seat. If you want pics of my setup, I can certainly post one. You can also look into using a dog "hammock" which straps between the back head rests and front head rests. I do not know if they have any that will fit something that will fit a CrewMax, but there must be something out there.

Kurgo also makes slips that can protect your doors (and provide some convenient storage). Downside is, you cannot roll the windows up/down when using them. I am considering returning mine due to this.

I have a cage separator to keep them from the front. Use plastic cable ties attached to the headrest posts to keep it tight and prevents marring the ceiling. I don't think they would like the cradle effect (spoiled) of a hammock type system so looking to improvise with a little help from the audience. Thanks for the thoughts, though.

Close. The idea is the same. Doesn't say how/if it just floats on the seat or is strapped somewhere. Hmmm, will have to look further. Thanks for the link.

What options do I have for my med size dog? He’s 22 pounds now and about 6 months old so he’ll still grow a little bit can’t see him growing too big. Maybe 30-40? Our daughter is back there too on her front face car seat so I can’t use those that take up the entire back seat. I’d like to put the dog on the passenger rear on the single seat that can fold up.

Amazon has lots of option that will still work with her car seat. I have two boxers and the little ones car seat and the cover I Have works but I have noticed many more options now that I am looking into in addition to door panel covers(as the boys like to slobber haha).

Am I the only one that flips the seats up and lets the dog on the floor?

Assuming that your beagles want window access, this isn't a solution for OP, but my golden can peak her head just out the window when she is sitting on the higher bit of floor.

I've looked at a mud river cover for the front seat, so she can ride shotgun too. They look like pretty good quality.

I would loose the space on the floor for in cab storage if I flipped up the seats and put the dogs down there. Also, my ESP bins are full of tools and other various stuff.

As for Mud River, I don't have seat covers or a sling but I have a few of their products and I have been pretty happy with them.

I just flip the seat up and let the golden and bichon roam the floor. The underseat is padded

10 4, forgot a lot of folks opt for the underseat storage. I don't have that and have the weathertechs full coverage in the back so the carpets don't get torn up.

I just flip the seats up. Usually they each stick a head out each window when driving. Pleanty of room to move around and lay down. IMG_20180512_204059972.jpg

The back doors open and make plenty of room. I have stuck my tool chest in there when needing full room of the bed. I'd measure the back seat and put a platform in there for them, either L shaped, the L will go to floor boards and cover the seats when down. Or a u shaped one that fits with seats up. Having the upper angles of the u shaped platform protect the door panaling but allows them to put front legs on it to stand at the window. Enough area in the middle for beds to lay down.

I am no artist but you can see the concept. Or rough idea to get you going.

I bought a similar one, from the same company. Without the split seat option, it's a bit more affordable. I bought the panels for the doors as well.

I bought this from Duluth Trading, it was $70. I used it for the first time today and it’s the first cover that fits the entire rear seat. It’s thick and seems like it will hold up well. IMG_6360.jpg
