After review of many other cameras and their quality. I want something that will last.

Here is cheaper camera from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P2EN5J2/
Look at the reviews and issues they have.

Oh yea it is also made in Japan. So that makes it expensive for sure over made in China or else.

There weren't too many reviews on that Amazon camera but we're also only 2 reviews that mention any issues. One said the camera broke but didn't explain it and another didn't know how to remove the nut and broke it. I didn't see any reviews for that $175 camera though, but I'm sure it will work fine.

I just ordered my camera and beat-sonic kit today. My install might be slightly more difficult because I am planning on moving the parking sensor switch from next to the ignition key cylinder down to where the toyota glass break sensor is located. Moving the glass break sensor over to the USB/AUX pod and moving that into the center console. My only cause for concern is that the lead for the parking sensor switch will not be long enough to make it down to where the toyota glass break is. Has anyone opened this part of the truck up and seen how long the wire is that is connected to the backup sensor switch? I have a platinum and do not have free banks to put the new camera switch in. I also dont feel like having to reach in front of the shifter every time I park and want to activate the front camera. Much easier to reach around my keys and push a button there.

There is an auto ON mode when driving forward BTW. It detects when you are moving and turns on front camera. You can program it to do so. It is easy.

Just finished his project and it turns out that the wires leading to the parking sensor switch are not long enough to relocate below the A/C controls (without modification). Even if the wires were long enough I am not sure I would do it because each switch is designed to have a specific position in the dash and would require trimming plastic on the switch to make it fit. Ended up tucking the parking sensor switch inside the dash and secured it above the gas pedal. I left my parking sensors turned on as I’d have to reach above the pedal to turn them off. It’s great having my camera switch right next to my ignition though!

How has the unit held up so far?

Also - I only have one open slot and that is where the GBS microphone would go.

You say the wiring isnt long enough to reach to that location?

    Update:

I sent them a question regarding the length of the wiring for the unit.
Sam responded and said the wring absolutely will reach the center location below the AC controls.

Maybe they re-worked their kit since you all installed them.

The length of wiring is not an issue.

I have had this on my vehicle for over a year. Through car washes. Trips that were over 1000 miles. Elevation climbs of over 11000 ft.
Same Camera is now on my new Dasaita stereo. I think it is not the best camera out there for resolution. But it holds up through rough stuff.
If I had to do it again I would just get another camera that has better night vision.

The wire that beat sonic provides is long enough to reach anywhere in the dash area. The issue comes about with the factory wiring and when you don’t have any blanks to put the best sonic switch in (platinum and 1794 models) or if you want to put it next to your ignition and need to relocate a switch to another location.

Gotcha - mis-understood the previous comments about the wiring.

You will like it. Easy to install. Running through firewall is the only hard part. But I use a firewall pierce tool with no issue.

Ive already swapped out the factory amp so should be able to run the wire through the same grommet...

Got the dang camera over the weekend, gotta love Chinese instructions.

Hopefully when the CS6EP interface arrives they will have English instructions.

Just wondering why you didn't go with the FRAC harness from @TundraTex . Can't beat his customer service.

Seems like a better fit for me and my mechanical abilities - I have an open blank for the on/off switch and did not want to drill holes to install two switches.

@TundraTex harness is plug and play and you could have got switches to fit in the blanks.
Hopefully it works out for you.
