What's the 0-60 performance difference between a tundra with and without the hybrid battery?

From the little bit of research I just did, the hybrid tundra got 0-60 in 5.98 seconds, the non-hybrid was about 6.1 and the de-tuned ST was about 6.6 seconds. I can link the YouTube videos but I’m guessing it should all be around the same ballpark.

If you want my biased opinion as owner of a hybrid, buy the hybrid if you can afford it.

I havent timed my hybrid myself but I do know in Sport mode you’ll get some tire spin if you step on it

Car and Driver got 5.7 seconds on a Limited Hybrid and 6.1 on a non-hybrid Limited.

Subjective. Fast for a truck is still fast just in comparison to other trucks.

Really? I think that nearly a half a second is very noticeable even though on paper it may not seem so. To me there’s a huge difference in feel between a car/truck that goes to 60 in 5.7 vs 6.1.

I test drove a normal TT 2023 tundra before I bought the hybrid tundra and test drove the hybrid on the day I bought it. Makes sense I guess since the hybrid is electric and kicks in until the turbos can take over.

The hybrid does feel a lot more responsive when you step on the gas. To me, the hybrid is a “nice to have” since you get to have a 7000lb truck that can identify as a Prius “hybrid” and drives at low speed without making a lot of noise when the engine is off. You also don’t have to worry about auto start/stop. I think all the hybrids also come with the digital display which I preferred.

    100% correct.
It is like when people say "my SUV handles like a sports car". Uh, you've never driven a sports car at speed.

That said, I'm really hooked on the TT engine and transmission. Plenty of power in the right places like on ramp whooshes. My Ford Eco Boost was the same way.

I drove a baby DuraMax and liked it but the motor just felt "wet" to use a term from the old carb jetting days. Just a little lower power and softer. Works fine but for me, no joy driving.

I've owned both Non-Hybrid and current is a 23 TRDPro Hybrid. No issues with my 22 Tundra. That said, the 23 Hybrid noted a faster pedal response. It is also noticeably faster from a dead stop. Wheel spinning faster for sure.
That said, it's a 6000lbs + brick and I didn't buy it for speed. Security in snow, when out in the woods and travelling with family. My fun ride is a SC car with 775 HP. When I take the Tundra after driving the RS3, it feels like a rolling brick. Then again, most cars do in comparison

Yes you can tell a difference I use to have a 68 Chevelle with big block Chevrolet in it. I ran 9.20's in it. Be surprised how little of a difference you can feel when driving fast rides that accelerated hard. I could tell a difference between 9.20 and 9.40 pass. Mine is a 24 Platinum Hybrid. It is not as fast as 22 Limited Hybrid I had. I can tell a little difference.

    Correct.

Anything under 7.0 seconds 0-60 is probably more than adequate for a big heavy vehicle. More important to me is the gearing, power, and transmission performance to pull off 50-80 MPH acceleration. All of the Gen 3’s are probably more than sufficient by this metric.

Everything beyond that is fun, but kind of irrelevant. When a 700hp $95K Raptor R or TRX is going to get face raped at a stoplight by a basic Mustang GT or Camaro SS that can be had for 1/2 the cost, this is called a clue.

That said I would 1000% buy the iForceMax because I am a juvenile delinquent.

Raptor R 0-60 time is listed from 3.5 to 3.7 seconds. Camaro SS listed at 4 flat, and the lowly Mustang GT at 4.3-4.4. So it looks like, at least for the Raptor R, the Mustang and Camaro get "face raped". Didn't check the TRX. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

This forum needs to allow multiple likes from one user, because sliding in a GI Joe PSA reference deserves more than one like.

I also found a few Mustang times down around or below 4.0s with the 10 speed auto. Plus they murder a TRX or Raptor R in the 1/4 mile especially trap speed.

    https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/...oost-s650-0-60-mph-quarter-mile-acceleration/

The Mustang will also go off road, haul things, and tow just as capably as a Raptor R or TRX for 90% of owners of those trucks.

Hahaha, I was wondering if anyone would get the reference. I know, showing my age.

Yes, I know the Mustang and Camaro would have big advantages in the 1/4 mile or on a track, just like the Raptor R would have an advantage in a Baja race. It’s using the right tool for the job. But, stoplight warriors usually back off around 60 and the Raptor R will surprise a lot of folks.

At the end of the day, 99% of Mustangs and Camaros will never see a track, like 99% of Raptor Rs will never see dirt.

It's an issue of traction (most HP Cars) with the Mustang. I chose 3.73 rear with 6speed. Lot's suspension work focused on road work :) . WOT from a stop and I'm spinning tires up through 2-3 shift. This is with TC on and pulling timing. A roll race is a different story-still have to roll into the throttle.

Light car you can get away with a little less gear as long as you do not put big tires on it.

We’re jaded for sure. Truck’s that do 4s or sub 4s is still fast. Let’s be real.

While towing my camper (2013 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 26DBH) of 6890lbs loaded according to the CAT scale, I smoked tire 3 different times in Tow+ with my '24 1794 iForceMax. Scared me the first time, though maybe I was dragging a brake on the camper. Tons of torque. I've embarrassed quite a few Mustang GT, Chargers, Challengers, and every other brand of pickups more than once. Love this Tundra, but don't really care for the payment much!

Another take on this. Which truck is quicker to stop from 60mph. I bet the hybrid comes in last there because of weight. Just a thought. Carry on...

Really, why the question? What is fast vs quick? Why the 0-60 looks close. The Hybrid is heavier. Would you compare a 5.5 bed vs a 6.5 bed speed race probably not. Wait till you add more add-ons to the truck. Tires, bed rack, or bumpers. Just had some V-tech sticker and you'll be ready for a scene in Fast n Furious.

Say as you please, but this is on the street, not a racetrack and not pro drivers. Some were better traction, some were poor RT at light, some were just over confident drivers. Some were the Tundra being quicker.

Agreed. I drove the non-hybrid first and it seemed sluggish compared to my GMC Sierra 6.2L. Then I drove the hybrid and was really surprised at the difference. No way the 6.2L I had was anywhere near the hybrid. I'm a big data guy, but sometimes the numbers don't tell the whole story.
