So, what's the difference between these two? Is it the physical dimensions, mounting tab placement, or wiring? I've run across a few threads where guys claim that the 2000-2004 headlights worked fine in their 2005-2006 trucks. Not looking for any input whatsoever on DC lights. I know they're a completely different animal. Any help is appreciated. There doesn't seem to be much of a selection on 2005/2006 Access Cab lights and I'm trying to figure out if/how I can make 2000-2004s work.

Teardrop light in the corner nearest the grille is the most obvious difference.

Right. Mine don't even come on. In fact, when I felt down there from the back, I couldn't feel a hole where you'd expect another bulb to be.

Yeah, you probably wouldn't, it's part of this tall grey thing with the long holes in it, and black wrapped harness coming out of the top (this is an aftermarket housing on right, OEM on left, but the angles are weird, they're super similar)

You'd be hard pressed to find the hole tucking your hand up under there with how it's designed.

OK, so I looked at mine again and it looks like the aftermarket in your pic. Would it work to go with aftermarket 2000-2004s and just tape off the connector for the small corner bulb and not use it? Any idea if the corner markers are the same dimensions and same connectors?

Throw them on the truck and see how they fit. Don't worry about the teardrop light bulb. That's the DRL bulb that a lot of folks disable anyway. Except me, I used to use with Chinesium white LED bulbs that worked at one time. With my last set of headlights, I threw a nice and bright Chinesium Amber LED in there but mine don't light up and I have no idea why. My truck doesn't have the DRL disconnect between the battery and inner fender so I have no clue why those bulbs no longer light up because they are connected.

Other DRL lights (like the infamous GM ones) run a pulsed output to make the dimmer DRL light. Most LED lights will not work in the older GM DRL applications. Wonder if you’re are our because of the LED bulbs being used.

No se. The white T10 bulbs that were in there before lit up but these new ones don't. I tested them in the house when I was putting my headlights back together after installing the Bi-LED projectors in them.

On my 2000 I jut leave the headlights on always. The go out when I turn the key off and open the door.

Same and same. I find less people pull out in front of me if my headlights are on, so I just keep them on all the time, full-brightness. And they turn off automagically.

I don't believe that's the "DRL bulb"? I swear there was chatter about this before, but ... that light can't function as a headlight, the light output (especially if a T10 bulb as you mention) is totally inadequate to fulfill any NHTSA requirement as a headlight. DRL is more a function than it is a bulb. DRL uses your main headlight bulb, eh?
