Has anyone had trouble with their sequential shifting. I developed a problem when I took my truck to Toyota to find out why it did not start. I pulled off the some of the console pieces to clean under and it would not start. Toyota had the truck for a month and it started. But I had issues with the way I got my truck back. The mechanic had assembled the console around my phone charger and the sequential shifting mode was inoperable. Drive worked fine but the light indicator and the fucnction of the sequential mode was and is non-exsistant. Oh by the way the mechanic also left the electric connection for the power port and lighting for the console unplugged (I have since connected them but still no sequential mode). Does anyone have an idea?

If the mechanic left plugs disconnected, you may need to pull that console back out and inspect each one yourself.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. You know that an unplugged connector was one of the problems I found while researching this issue. Upon inspection I found a plug unconnected, I reconnected it and now my console power port and light work but no solution to the shifting issue. Before I reconnected the plug I went back to Toyota and the service. manager, who I had been dealing with agreed to research my issues (one of them being unplugged connectors). I returned to the dealership yesterday and the manger told me that she talked to the lead technician about this quagmire. I was to rest assured that there was no need for concern because the plug in question was never hooked up on my truck. It was "just an extra"...BS. Anyway, research points to a mechanism in the floor shifter which the technician actually documented as faulty in my shifter when he worked on the vehicle initially (its a switch that activates when you slide the shifter left from drive to sequential). Its funny that it always worked prior to the Toyota's involvement, but at least I received the documentation 7 months later. I will purchase a shifter and R & R and give the verdict soon.

I thought there was a connector on there you could've checked. I did understand you taking it apart and trying to repair what the issue was. Hope it works out... I'd try researching a part number and checking if it's interchangeable with any other model and go that route, before dropping the stacks on a new shifter.

Thank You I will check it out. I was going to Toyota to get a print of the schematic. Hopefully you are right, I already ordered a used on on eBay. Hopefully I can cancel, although mine is at times sticky feeling.
