I was very much on the Toyota bandwagon with their defending the use of 0W-16 in many of their new 4-cylinder engines as I simply felt they would have properly researched using water in their engines for long term reliability. But now I see 0W-8 being used in the new Crown and Corolla and holy &%$# this might be getting crazy. I understand just using the word oil on this forum blows up the internet but 0W-8, come on.

Easy to fix, just pour some straight 250 weight into every vehicle you see. Solve it one Corolla at a time.

The people in the USA who control the new car/truck part of the automotive industry are set to almost double the required C.A.F.E. mileage. The insanity is just just just getting going.

Mpg hasnt doubled in the last 30years. Only a fool would expect it to double in the next 10 as our epa does

They will probably go the way of lawn mower engines. No more oil changes, just add oil when necessary. We're dealing with appliances now, not serviceable automobiles.

Put on yer tinfoil hat and take a journey with me. :tinfoilhat:

The EPA must have found evidence of that GM carburetor that got 100 mpg actually existing! We all know Big Gas/Oil paid to bury that project, and we should be thankful the EPA is here to save us all from the evil Dead Dinosaur Barons!

OK, you can remove the tinfoil hat now.

Big oil along with NATO buried the game changing Fuel Line Atomizer that would/could have saved the world Trillions of gallons of oil annually if implemented and not completely mocked. They hate us, and want us to eat bugs,..prove me wrong. :tinfoilhat:

Wow 0W-8, didn’t know such a thing existed.

Color me skeptical about how well it will lubricate with some fuel dilution, and high heat.

I looked it up and found the oil is for the naturally aspirated I4 not the 2.4L Turbo at least.

The new Corolla comes shipped with 0W-8, although the manual states it may be substituted with 0W-16. I have a feeling most people will be running the 0W-16 considering it is much easier to find.

That lastest video of his proved everything we suspected, thinner oil flows faster but also burns faster and causes more wear. My suspension is that the 0w8 would be worse than the 0w16 in the test. Different weight oil used to be made for different climates, now they are just trying to squeeze every mpg they can to appease the powers at be. I run 15w40 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter. Ill never run 0w anything unless I travel to Alaska.
