Sooo.. I just bought a 2018 4wd crew cab Tundra from a Ford dealership of all places. It has just over 100,000 miles on it. What kind of maintenance would you recommend to perform on it. I plan on changing the front and rear diff gear oil. Engine oil was just changed and plan on taking it to the local Toyota dealership for a full diagnostic test when the next oil change is due, but thought I would just throw it out to the group.

Welcome aboard!! And congrats. Transfer case, transmission, power steering, brake fluid, coolant, and lube all greasable points. Spark plugs too. Cabin air if it hasn’t been changed.

    Items to consider:

Transmission fluid - maybe perform a couple of drain & fills.

Serpentine belt replacement, check pulleys when belt removed.

Spark plugs are officially due at 120k miles, but no harm in changing them at 100k.

I did my plugs at 100k, but I haven't done the belt yet at 120k, heh. There a recommendation on doing the thermostat and tensioner at the same time?

My thermostat on the 2000 Tundra went 212k miles without failure.

Welcome from OKC! 100K? It's not just mileage, there's years to consider here. I would be going through it pretty thoroughly and definitely screen the HVAC fresh air intakes under the windshield cowling. Otherwise rodents will be all over in your truck.

Thanks guys, and I appreciate the warm welcome! You never know with some of these forums these days. Lol! This is my dream truck, took me 48 years to get it, but I have it. I have a 2020 Honda accord as my main vehicle, so I am looking to keep this truck for a long time. Some of this maintenance I can do on my own, some may be more challenging. Start with the diffs, trans, and grease points. Anyone know of a diagram for the grease points, everything I saw online is saying they did away with the grease nips

Welcome and congrats on your recent purchase. I would consider this forum like a campfire with a good crowd, where it gets raunchy but also solves life's greatest mysteries. Good community of very intelligent, unhinged individuals. BS is shut down pretty quickly, tell you the truth I haven't seen anything spicy in a bit. And it makes me sad.

There's always a chance parts have been changed and grease zerks are included in the changes. For example, I only had about 20k on my truck but had to replace the boot on my driveshaft slip yoke due to a barbed wire stub poking out of the weeds and finding its way right into a u joint. That became a nightmare quickly that led to new U joints with grease zerks. Also found out that the slip yoke wasn't lubed very well from the factory. Just look closely at rear shackles, control arms, driveshafts, ball joints, sway bar links, and tie rod ends.

Congrats on the dream truck. This forum has the answers to all your questions. Many times I’ve brought issues up to my dealer that had no clue but I showed them solutions from the forum. This is a great place to learn something new or get great ideas. Enjoy your Tundra and post some pics.

Purchased my 2018 new off the Yota lot. Check the battery date, engine oil, front/rear/Tcase (probably just do it at 100k), spark plugs, brake pad thickness, maybe swap the brake fluid. After that, check the rear shocks for any minor leakage up top and the cam tower seals. Basic stuff. However the cam tower seals replacement is pricey at the dealer.

engine oil and the rear/front/TCase is very simple to drain and fill. Spend the extra few dollars for replacement plug washers. Just saying. Also don’t read TOO much on the exact fluid needed. Use good judgement.

    I’d do your differentials too.

Do the diff breather hose mod.

Might need new shocks if they are original.

Brake fluid flush if it’s nasty.

    Power steering fluid change.

Depends on gen and year. Crawl under and look for the nips. No pun intended. Used to have them. Afterwards they were nipless. If aftermarket on a used, they might have nips……for greasing of course. 100k, might want to check.
