Are you talking about CarLink for remote start?

I have their remote start on my 19 and it was an easy install, they have great instructions and videos. Only have the fob start though, don't have the app.

I like the app enough that I went and found the same unit for my wife's vehicle. Pretty darn easy to navigate and gives everything you need on one screen. Pricing isn't too bad if you pay for the service annually.

Awesome to hear! So you have to pay every year? can you start the car with the app?

Any remote start that uses an app requires a subscription since even OEM ones since they have to pay a few to the wireless providers that allow you to connect remotely. But yes the 12v solutions app allows you to start the vehicle.

I am interested in this as well. I have read the carlink is not all that great but the start x is. I need something to allow me to remote start my truck from about 400 yards away since my office is a long walk. And I don't want to get in and restart my truck once I open the door. I don't think any are that way any more though. I have read good reviews on 12voltsolutions but I don't have any of my own data. I did have the start x on the last Tundra and it worked great but I have never had the app.

The app is pretty basic but does everything I need to do and it can support multiple vehicles which is why I doubled down on the wife's vehicle, too. The app is the least of the concern. The service availability for the comms module is what really matters and at least in my area, it has always connected, even in all of our camping trips. Commands are processed within just a second or two. IIRC it utilizes AT&T for a provider so YMMV

The app is Internet based, range isn't the issue. I've unlocked my vehicle in Boston from a desk in Virginia, and then relocked it. If you are talking about the starter itself, then that is just whatever the factory key fob has for range. 3 presses starts and 3 more stops.

I’ve used them 2-3 times in previous cars and in my 4Runner. No problems at all.

Highly recommend Compustar. Extremely reliable. I put one in my 2001 Sequoia that I use as a winter beater. Because the key is chipped, the install took me almost 3 hours. With that being said, it has a 3 mile range. It has been absolutely flawless for a few years now.

Has anyone had the startx and their app vs 12voltsoultions and their app? I have a 2018 1794 and need the app for range and I don't want 2 fobs.

I couldn't recommend the 12v Solutions more. It has been flawless on my 2018 for 3 years now. The app is simple to use, and connects within seconds. (Much better than my factory Ford app on my 2023 Transit 250, which sometimes takes 30-60 seconds, just to tell me to retry it).
I like the 12v Solutions so much that I purchased a remote start kit for my Dads 2011 Tacoma. He's not an app guy lol, so on his I bought the kit with the long range fobs. The one downside to his kit is that the antenna for the long range remotes puts a noticeable parasitic draw on his battery. Sometimes if his truck sits for a week or two, his battery is dead. But that might have had to do with his $60 Walmart battery... which I just upgraded.
Also, their customer support is great.

I have the 12 volt solutions on my Tacoma and just went with the long range remote. I have zero problems with starting my truck from 400 yards +. I have thought about adding the app just because but haven't yet. They are have a big sale right now and offering 25% off.

how much do you pay per month for the app? So if i get the app verison it acts like a long range remote? and obviously u can just use the oem fob as a remote too right? I am debating if I should go with oem fob and app or just oem fob start up if the cost of the app per month is too much...

First - I have had it for five years now and it has been flawless. I have the phone app cause here in Phoenix you need to turn your car on while your plane is still landing. I just looked up the renew price right now on the app and its $39/year or $99/3 years.
Second - For the goofy crap. You can choose a picture of the Tundra and then pic its color. You can also title it all on the apps home screen.
Third - The 12Volt Solutions and the Car Link are the same thing. Bought the Car Link version several years age through this group buy in 2019. If you want to search it on this forum you can read a lot more about the product. Sorry, don't know how to make it a link.

I wish I had known it was the same app. before I bought the 12voltsolutions. I almost bought the startx and the car link for a little less $$$ and also less for the yearly fee. I will be giving the 12voltsolutions a shot this go round for the Tundra. I grabbed it for the black Friday sale.
