    Hybrid 1794 4x4 Tundra: 765 miles

    Coming from a 19 platinum, and had a 16 and 14 prior and an 07 sr5.

    Spirited driving, mostly around 70-85mph
    16.8 mpg Mobile to Memphis
19.1 mpg Memphis to KC- was 21 before the highway opened up and I let her rip. Sounds like these numbers should climb as she continues to break in.

Was super cool cruising through the Ozarks and watching the hybrid engine kick in from 45-60mph and the mpg’s climbed! Hybrid transition is crazy smooth and the power when you punch it is addicting.

Pros: technology, transmission/ engine, interior finish and comfort, quiet cabin- like scary quiet, ventilated seat is lightyears ahead of my prior platinums, AC is ice cold, pano sunroof is epic, and the self driving feature

Cons: haven’t gotten used to the button locations and changing things like climate can be weird.

I got lucky on this one, it somehow was built early, showed up on time and doesn’t seem to have any of the issues other folks are posting (I.e. wind noise, rattles, poor fitting trim, weak ac/ ventilated seats, mirror cameras falling off, etc).

Took the first 100 or so miles on it super easy to help with break in then finally caved and drove it like a truck, but made sure to vary my speed. Going to have the fake v8 sound turned off at my first oil change, didn’t have time to do it at the dealership before leaving.

Thus far 10/10, absolutely love it and worth the wait. Big props to Martin Diaz, Chad and Tony at Palmers airport toyota, easiest and best vehicle purchase I have made.

Truck is sitting at Adventure Motors right now getting the delux treatment- true lift kit with coil overs, new rear shocks and springs, sway bar relocation, new bump stops, extended brake lines, airbags and a chrome delete. Can’t wait to see it all finished up this afternoon

hahaha, the Facebook group is about to implode over it any minute now

Thanks man! This build is going to be sweet, I have 80% of the parts already, just need time to put them in once I get home next Friday.

Nice truck, OP. I bet when it gets back from AM a bunch of haters will reluctantly change their minds about the looks.

No doubt! It will look a little funny though for the next week rolling on the stockers- have my 35’s and 3 different sets of bronze 17’s to try out on it

Nice Truck! What did you get for options, other than TRD OR? Looks like Saddle Brown interior. Can you post interior shots too? I'm looking at something similar to this, in Blueprint or Silver. Cost?

Damn fine truck @DexterL , other than the inferior interior color :poking:.

I'm looking forward to the build thread!

I had deposits down at a few dealers locally and none of them were getting anything in or in colors I did not want. I sucked it up and got the short bed, I needed a truck like 2 months ago and couldn’t wait any longer. I am actually okay with the decision, the extra foot would have been unwieldy in my journey so far!

Thanks for the review, am enjoying our 2022’s power performance and mileage but am considering ordering a iforce max for the next one.

Update- drove from KC-Spearfish, SD today average speed 85mph , mpg was 18.1 with the new lift kit and lots of wind and rain. More and more stoked with this truck each day!

Hey, @DexterL , I'm trying to buy in Texas. I live in Florida. Buying a Hybrid 1794 as well. My dealer told me that Gulf States Toyota put a 6 day moratorium on shipping because of a software changeover. Did your dealer give any mention of that? My build date was 4/29. Still waiting to go get my truck.

Pretty sure even in my 22' limited if I did 85 I would get maybe 14. This seems suspicious!

The hybrid motor switches on and off if not interrupted. If the cruise is set and its just an open road its not that suspicious IMO. Thats what that electric motor is supposed to do intermediate driving, no?

I don’t believe so, that wouldn’t make any sense IMO. What if your hauling something and need that extra pep. ‍♂️‍♂️ Gonna have to look into that.

How often did your hybrid motor kick on, and did you notice for how long at a time? I see the battery being used indicator on the right.

It would work in conjunction with the gas motor to give the extra oomph but no electric motor is efficient at high speeds on it's own, much less the one Toyota has implemented.
