Thanks much for the link. They don't make it for the Tundra, but it is a cool idea.

Here’s a silver one in Carlsbad CA for only $400 but it’s missing front and back glass…

I decided to look it up. I was curious how you get into the thing.
Unless you are a 25 yr old kid who is skinny and flexible, I can't see contorting my busted ass out of the driver seat and up into that space. Not without pulling a muscle, throwing my back out, scratching my arm and busting something on the dash or console. Plus it looks like you have to have a sunroof to remove, or have to cut a big hole in your roof.
It's a neat idea, but there has to be a better way.
    Ladder 2.jpg

And the bed needs to flex separately from the cab. Not sure how they work around that.

Replacement glass for these things is stupidly expensive, so that’s way overpriced. Probably easiest to cut some plexiglass or something if you’re hell bent on buying used.

oh for sure! I just saw it and threw it out there for anyone looking in socal or nearby. I almost miss having the plexiglass on the back of mine though, gotta be more careful with the glass

Right. When I first saw it I thought entry was possible from the bed, or if the Crewmax window is open you could get in that way if needed, but it's not that. Seem like over time if you had to go in and out of Sunroof, you'd muck up the sunroof gasket.

Picked this one up today for free about 30 minutes from me! Just needs a new strut on the one side of the rear window and a piece of glass in the front slider.

Yup. If you can even get them. What I found while checking the last one is the side windows are over $400, rear window upwards of $600, and parts are subject to availability on unsupported models.

Seems pretty much like you gotta get one with all the options you want up-front, and hope like hell you never smash a window.

If my shell on the 2000 pops a window, its getting tinted plexiglass replacement. The 2019 has a curved window. I'd have to bite the bullet on that one.

I mean, don't get me wrong, if you make that side window out of molle paneling so you could mount stuff to it, that could be pretty cool too.

Yes, the rear 1/4 of the window pops open, like the rear windows in our ACs.

Mine is the same, all over the hood though. I have a buddy that owns a classic car restoration shop so I have to sand it first. I need him to paint my cap and hard tonneau too.

I'm not looking to be able to camp in mine but to haul stuff in and things like that. I have to wire up the 3rd brake light but has anyone ever put in a little power station in the back since they were already doing wiring?

Not that easy, you have to find out if your manufacturer ever made windoors, most caps are older and never offered with them.
I bought mine with a broken slide window, inquired about windoors and it was a no go, the replacement window cost more than I paid for the cap double fold

will be ordering an OVRLND Camper soon, but it takes like 6 months to get. In the meantime thinking about picking up used softopper or shell in southern california for my double cab.
