Word around the playground is that this 1st gen has made it 1 million miles. This would be the 3rd 2UZFE that I'm aware of(assuming this isn't a V6)

Someone said it was posted on the 1st gen Tundra Facebook group but I don't have Facebook. Maybe someone else can check. No word on whether or not it's the original engine or what work has been done.

I'm kind of amazed the frame would last that long in a state that appears to be up north.. I'm guessing it's a 2000 model. That's 50K miles year for 20 years.

Even if it were the original motor I don't think Toyota would give them a new truck. They did for that first guy because the model is still in production and they can learn a lot by examining it. They won't be too interested in examining a first gen, maybe to see if the airbag was replaced 4x.

Agreed....but I think it would be even cooler if they would do a full on restoration for him on his current truck and use that for advertising purposes...with parts and labor at their cost, I bet it wouldn't be more than $15K to them and would seem to be worth it.

Original transmission? Any info on other repairs? 900k for a gas engine is amazing.

Original timing belt and ball joints??? :)

Haha, I was gonna say... Toyota already produced a truck for him that lasted 10x as long as most people keep their vehicles.

Sounds like highway miles which are the best on motors, brakes and all suspension parts.

Pic looks like stock suspension and a bed box of some sorts in the 200lbs range?

Guy probably drove 3 hours a day for 300 days a year for 20 years. Based on 60 mph speed. Ballpark.

    2 ball joints.....2...

And the rest of us are freaking out if we don't replace them every 75-100k. That's amazing.

Your "Ballpark" is probably about right....Shanti is up in Northern Mich and owns a Equine Vetrinary Service. Lot of ground to cover if he makes barn calls !

I’m on my third set. Not freaking out though.

Another thing to consider, and I don’t mean this in a bad way, is his wife is doing the answering and it is Facebutt so it must be true? Original timing belt? Say wha? Too many posers these days.

Shoot, I can’t even figure out who replaced my steering bushings.

Cool. Didn’t translate but now it does. Thanks for clarifying.

This is a cool story if true. I do realize they are campaigning for a new truck so take things with grains of salt.

Yeah I was poking fun at the 1 time posters that pop up around here saying they have 200k miles on the original timing belt. Then they disappear into the night.

I think this is probably real. Not the first 4.7L with 1M miles. But I agree the wife probably has no idea what maintenance has been done on the truck.

My truck had 290 on the belt when it came to me. It look horrible it had a crack every 4-5 millmeters. Can't believe it was still holding. Well, I assume it was original to be that bad.

My 1996 Tacoma has the original ball joints with 290,000 miles and have zero play. I’m not confident I could get 500,000 out of a set though.

:eek2: That's impressive. Here I am preparing to do the ball joints on our Rav4 at 120k because I thought it was the responsible thing to do. Perhaps I'm over thinking this.

Just check for play, the Toyota fwd ball joints almost never go bad. Only
Time I’ve had to replace them at work was due to hitting curbs and typically bending control arms
