Seems like the best deal recently is OEM Toyota remanufactured axles. People have posted about these before if you do a little digging.
If I'm not mistaking @des2mtn is the one who found out about them first and has 1 or 2.

Also depends on use case. You can spend hundreds on CVJ brand axles for lifted vehicles or get the cheap ones from auto zone. Depends on how long you want them to last I suppose.

OEM is always best. I hate being "that" guy, but seriously, with Toyota, you don't want to mess with anything but OEM on anything electronic and suspension. Especially lower balljoints. Check this thread for more tips.

43430-0C010-84 is the reman part number. If you use that link, and order for pickup from a local dealership through Toyota's site, you can usually cut anywhere from 5% - 30% off the "MSRP" listed price. If you go to the parts counter directly, they *will* charge you full MSRP. When it asks you to pick a dealership near you, if you have multiple dealerships near you, try a couple of different ones at that site; diff't dealerships sometimes have higher discounts on different parts.

    Just wondering?
My 06 has 75K miles. If the boots tear does it make sense to replace the boots and keep the low milage axles?

Well, yes. You always want to buy OEM, unless you’re planning something that requires longer shafts (long travel rebuild). So what you’d buy if you don’t want to rebuild the axles yourself is a “reman” of OEM, and you’ll be charged a core charge, unless you turn in your originals in trade. So, yeah, if you are capable and willing to do the rebuild yourself, and can leave the truck on stands while you do it, use those 75k mile shafts!

I wonder what they'd do if you bought OEM rebuilds and tried to turn in old aftermarkets as cores. Maybe refuse them as cores?

They'd probably refuse it, yes. I've had them inspect axle cores I've turned in even though the axle is in pieces.

The OEM remanufactured axles I have bought definitely have recycled and repainted shafts, it looks like some of the parts are new on the tulip. @richsadams remans look the same.

Rebooting the axles isn't hard at all, just messy, and will cost you less than the remans. A bench vise is helpful. But buying remans and just slapping those in will take you less time.

If you can find a local dealer where you can buy those reman axles in the $75-85 dollar range and returning your cores, it might not be a bad idea to just to that to get new boots. Either spending your time or spending your money sort of deal.

So wait, lemme get this right ...

Did user 'dowdydl' get banned for 3 days for effortless-posting/shitposting trying to build up to 50, then came back from ban, change their name to 'Jackson Smith', and try to do the same all over again? Or was Jackson Smith a new account, that got blown away for the same?

The things I miss for sleeping!
