Early in August, I learned that a local Gentleman was selling his used Tundra. I went to visit as see what he had. He is 85 and treating himself to a new Tundra, thus selling his present Tunda. He bought it new in 2000 and had a Fisher Homesteader plow installed. I was SHOCKED, the Tundra almost looked factory new, a few paint chips here and there, which I can fix. Miles on the speedo 40719 !! Since bought it the miles now are 40750 golly its almost worn out ha ha. It came with a new Tonneau bed cover, Toyota Bed Liner. The tires on the truck were original DOT date coded 00 for 2000. Yes, they were unsafe but still has very usable tread. i put all new snow tires on her, we get lots of deep snow, all season tires don’t cut it.

The frame is beautiful. Most places, factory paint, some small surface rust in other places. It was not run in the winter on snow/salt covered roads. The previous owner only tried to plow his driveway 2 times. Decided it was to much work and since then had had a local guy plow him out. The plow is like new. I will not plow with it as I have a Bombardier Tracked Skidder. It runs great, seems to get decent fuel MPG. The only down side is that it does not have power seats, so I don’t have any lumbar control. With my bad back it can get painful on a long ride.

I have uploaded all pictures to my Imageevent site. URL is below in my signature

Super nice! But beware of low miles on these trucks, that comes with its own set of issues.

Also, beware of rodents since I see you're in the cold and that truck must've sat, and if it didn't, expect to find hella sludge in the top-end. Hell, most of the stuff you need to be worried about is over here, if I didn't link it up in your other post already.

    Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the heads up on possible low mile issues.. The gentleman who owned this Tundra has a heater garage kept at 60 degrees in the winter. Yes, it gets cold in the
Adirondack Mts of NY. Coldest I have seen was 47 below zero on Christmas Eve 2009, we were out on a snowshoe hike......beautiful if your dressed properly.

Forgot to mention. On 7/1/21, at 39151 miles the Timing Belt, Tensioners , pulleys and water pump was changed. Now with the miles I have driven her to 40750, the above change only has 1599 miles on the new timing belt etc.

I can tell you that the biggest concern that shifty was trying to address to you is the sludge in the top end. Best to have a shop perform an engine clean using a product such as this.

teeregs; I paid $8000 in cash Benjamins, per the sellers request. He only lived 3 miles away from me and I had never seen this truck in the village.

Honestly, you could probably turn around and sell it on www.BringATrailer.com for 2x-3x that much easily. We've seen several mint-shape, fully maintained sub-50k mile trucks go for as steep as $35k if nicely optioned, V8 and 4WD with little to no rust underneath.

I had no concept a low mile/clean 1st gen could cost that much. The seller was a super person to deal with. One thing he insisted on, and would not let have the Tundra until he
took it to a detailer and it fully cleaned and waxed. The only thing I need to find somewhere is the Knob (only) for the dash light intensity control. There must be a dismantler out there somewhere that deals in Tundras

OEM part is still available per parts exploded diagrams. Parts link to buy direct from Toyota at a discount, and potentially pick up at your nearest dealership: https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/knob-rheostat-light-8411804011

If you go to that page, and click "Go to my dealer site" you can see what each dealership near you is charging. MSRP on the part is $3.65 but my local dealerships are selling it for $2.52, and you can tap the 'BACK' button on your web browser as many times as you need to check other nearby dealerships.

If you just want to order it in person, part number is 8411804011, which is also sometimes hyphenated as 84118-04011.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS PART ON eBay OR Amazon. You'll overpay, and typically get knockoff/non-genuine OEM parts.

Great truck, the first generation is the best Tundra in my view.

I had a 05 four door, 2013 extended cab and back to my 2000 access cab.

What is the mfg build date on the door jamb?

    Mine is 07/99.

Sell this low mile tundra for $30k, then buy three other tundras with all that money...a Single Cab long bed, an Access Cab, and a Double Cab. Can’t go wrong there!

Thanks for the info on ordering the Knob/Reostat for the dash lights. Called the local Toyota dealer (45 miles away) They will order the knob and ship it to me via Fedex for $9.79. Thanks again

Dang, that's an incredible score! Please treat the frame so it doesn't rust. Would be so sad to lose that gem due to rust.

Yes, I agree. I am open to suggestions on what to shoot on that frame. I am thinking Krown of fluid film. Krown is 1 hour away, fluid film, not close

Fluid Film can be purchased online and delivered to your door. Unless you mean having someone else apply it. Either way, do something or that frame will get eaten alive. The frames on these trucks are almost comically bad.

You forgot one part of the schpeel: "And don't forget to treat the INSIDE of the framerails too, so they don't rot from the inside out!"
