    Hello all.

I have a 2001 Limited that I am planning to replace the drivers and passengers seats with some from a later Gen 1 ( from pull -a-part). What I have noticed in my recon of the later models is that the wiring harness changed from a 4 wire connector to a 6 pin connector. My questions is there any way to make a Y type of cable splice that would convert/connect all 6 of the new pins? I am guessing that the other 2 pins are for additional motion on the later model seats. I would like to keep the use of the additional options. So I have gathered some extra connectors from junk yard but not sure if I can just splice together the 2 "extra" wires with one of the original 4 wires? Any one else mess with this type of conversion or splicing?

The 6 pin connector is used when one has power seats and heated seats. What extra functions do have on your seats presently ?
Each conductor has it's own function, so not sure how to answer "splice together the 2 "extra" wires with one of the original 4 wires?"
Your end result may be possible but need to know more a what you have presently and what year replacement seats you end up with.

Was recently working an issue with mine and made below for help in troubleshooting if it helps explain !

    Thanks BubbaW,
Those pics are perfect. My current seat does not have the heater feature but it makes me think of wiring in a button to add this during the winter months. Would you also have the pin out for the 4 pin? I can send a pic if needed. thx

Ok looking again at the 6 pin setup I think it makes sense now. What I need to do is wire in Hi/low switch for the heater feature of the seat. This should give me heated seats in truck. Here is pic of the 4 pin under drivers seat.

1 - white with green stripe thick

    2- white with purple stripe

    3- black with silver bands

    4- white black stripe thick

these are the 4 wires and colors that I can see. The pin order may not be correct but 2 of the 4 wires are thicker than other 2.

According to the 2001 EWD, that connector is BI1. The bigger W/G and a bigger W/Blk are for power seat if one is present. The smaller Blk and W/Blk are for buckle switch.
    The 2001 EWD does not refence a W/Purple ?

Awesome BubbaW, thanks. I plan to wire up a test. I am going to check the junk yard for the heater on/off switch and see if a can add this feature to my Tundra.... Thanks again..
