2001 Limited, bought with 125k original miles, immaculately maintained. Wife and I just opened a our first business and it has been a god send right off the bat. We have 4 dogs and I have purchased a clean retro camper top and horse stall mat for a starter bed so far. Planning on one day changing wheels and tires, bed lining quite a bit of the truck if not the whole thing in the closest color to Imperial Green. Possible Kenwood 10" floating display. Building a frame for a tent top and possibly modding a second gas tank/dog crates for back as a complete buggout/overland/lifetime build. Glad to be part of the Tundra family!IMG_8433.jpg 20230924_164135.jpg

Truck looks great and the paint looks imaculant. Bedlining that great looking green paint would be a sin I think. Do you have a pic of that "horse stall mat" you put in? Seems like good padding for the dogs.

What's the timing belt history on it? Your tires are at least 10 years old judging from that Michelin font, may want to look into that as michelins like to dry rot.

@bmf4069 Another 2 tone truck, EDIT: TRD flares not two tone flares.

Paint looks much better in pictures, quite a bit of scratch, hail, and chip spread all over. One reason I've given thought to bed lining just because of what we plan to do. The two tone and Imperial Jade are by far my favorite color though. I'll have to post a picture of the mat later, it was only a 6 x 4 so there are gaps on both sides of the wheel arch but it's almost 80 lbs and has a textured bottom. Not sure the complete build idea for the bed yet! Timing belt was changed at 100k. Tires will be changed as soon as I can/figure out if I'm keeping the TRD wheels or finding some bronzers. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah! I saw it in the other thread. His flares are bigger than mine though. I think those are the trd flares.

Are they called trd flares or limited flares? With the built in yankee mudflaps?

Make sure you pull back one of the timing belt covers and actually inspect the belt. We just had another member buy a used Tundra and the previous owner told him the belt had been changed. Well, the belt broke and now he's hunting for a new engine.

That's a beautiful truck you found. I would agree with others that bed liner will ruin the look.

Agree, looks like Limited mudflaps. I think those were the ones that came from the factory. The smaller ones, like on @bmf4069 truck, are the dealer or port installed flares.

OP, nice truck. Hope you enjoy.

6 x 4 mat, fits great. Bit of a perfectionist so I'll figure out what to do in the small gaps at some point but the dog pack loved the first taste of it yesterday. Will soon have the camper top on semi-permanantly as well

Oh wow I really like that. I'd like to push that even further and imagine the two tone with a rugged grey spray over the original and wheel flares:monocle:

I would keep the factory bedliner especially if you live in the salt belt/rust belt.

I would also pore over the content of this thread to get a running baseline for where you are in that truck, if not already read: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking truck, if the frame looks equally rust-free, you got a real gem on your hands.

Some other guys with 1st gens weren't happy with their floating screen head units. But that thread I linked will provide a link to to the long thread on what head units are being used, backup camera install info, etc.

Thanks so much for the welcome. I did read through that thread and I'm very impressed with the community and will be taking plenty of notes from others experiences and truly learning this truck inside and out.
I do live in East Tennessee and so did the truck for its entire life! Frame is in equally as great condition. Those thread notes for electric diagramming and some other custom button groupings and others, will most definitely be used and come in handy! Thanks again!

Totally welcome. And know you're not the only member here in E. TN, though they're scarce it seems! And just across the border in W. NC. Hell, I may even be in E. TN once the kids graduate. Will see.

But that said, you may have a wrenching friend from here on the forum closer than you think, if that's your thing.

You got me. I overlooked it. Those are TRD flares. TRD package must override the two tone flares.

Nice truck! My brother is in that area (East TN outside of Knoxville) and has an '04 in that color. Base model though, with a single cab, manual transmission and V6. And your paint looks brand new compared to his. My truck is 2nd gen, also in green, but I love the 1st gens as well!

It's never been my thing before but I really do think this will be a lifetime truck for me and my family so I'm ready to build it to last and the right way. Eager to learn from so much experience here. I'm originally from Winston Salem but still have some family in Marshall actually near you.
