Hello, this is my first time posting. I have a 2001 Tundra SR5 4x4 access cab and recently bought King shocks. One source said that 2nd gen Tacoma Kings will fit my oem mounts. Another said I need to relocate my mounts to accommodate the length. I am also adding a Icon progressive AAL set. Any info or experience with this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you've already bought them then try to put them on and let us know. I've had a suspicion that 2nd gen taco shocks would fit if used with an add a leaf (or block). I'm just not sure if the lower mount is a different width, you can use spacers on the sleeve or bend the axle tabs out a bit to adjust.

You may want to consider extending the rear brake line if your leaf spring setup can droop beyond 22". Play with your truck a bit and see how much tolerance it has.

After looking at the mounts on my tundra the top mounts have a cup like housing and the shock reservoir hose comes higher then the mounting nut. Tacoma’s Mount allows hose to have room outside the frame. I will try to post pics.EEA67FD3-0BCD-4D51-B83A-E91A67EE5702.jpg

Ahh, I don't think that will work. I thought you were going for smooth bodies with no reservoir. Odd design to aim a hard bung up like that, usually shocks have a threaded fitting that you can clock.

Are you looking for more travel? What's the goal here?

Some guys who use deaver springs have got away with running 10" sway a way smooth shocks but they have to widen the lower mount a bit. There is also a shock relocation kit from Archive Garage that can use longer shocks with reservoirs.

Yeah, trying to get more out of the truck w/o going full retard on long travel parts or four link. Ive never had the best of anything so wanted to have Kings which I think are one of the top dogs. Front coils king has bolt on but nothing for the rear. Thanks for the archive idea I had seen that and sent them a message about it. I’m doing a lot more overlanding and semi higher speed desert trips so wanted more than the current 5100’s and sensen rear eBay crap that are blown out. Really considered toytecs aluma 2.0 kit but heard it’s a rough ride. Kings are my number one so if I can’t get a custom made shock to fit them I will have to concede and find an alternative.i will make sure to post what I end up with for the other 1st Gen owners.

I went with Radflo all four corners, and they are rebuildable, same price range as the Kings. Just another option to make your decision more complicated lol.
