Hey guys, I recently replaced my timing belt, water pump, etc.. My truck started on the first try, but then a couple days later, it started to die at stop lights and then finally wouldn't start at all but IT DID Crank!

    CRANK NO START CONDITION
I solved the NO START condition, and I thought I'd post it here to help out. It turns out that the wiring that goes to the Crank Position sensor should be routed behind the little water pipe on the driver's side of the engine, by the balancer pulley, if NOT the Serpentine belt will grind it away! The Serpentine belt rubbed on it eventually exposing some wires and they touched (shorted) together. I separated the wires and instantly it started! I fixed the wiring harness and then moved on the the idle issue.

Along the way, I added gas, chased my fuel pump, the wiring, the relay and the battery down! Lot's of troubleshooting, no parts replaced and all checked out good. Initially it acted like it was out of gas. Jumping the fuel pump at the relay indicated that it was probably something else since it activated the pump.

    IDLE ISSUE
When you disconnect the battery on this year Tundra (2003) it runs like crap. So I did the ECU relearning procedure as follows so that it wouldn't die at every stoplight!

    ECU REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
Insert the key and turn the ignition on (without cranking), then turn the ignition off and then back on starting the engine. Next, Put the parking brake on then step on the brake pedal. Place the transmission in drive, and let it run for a few minutes while it relearns the idle. You can see the idle go up slightly. After you are satisfied that it won't die, put it in park, turn the ignition off and you should be set! No more dying at a light!.

I hope this helps some one!

Thanks for the writeup, OP. I think that CPS wire issue has happened enough to where, when I posted some photos of it on my recent TB/WP job before it was buttoned up, several folks said "make sure that wire gets tucked away!"
