I have an 05 Toyota Sequoia 4.7L that started running hot one day while idling. I noticed it when it was close to red and pulled over and shut it off. I waited an hour and let it cool down before I added antifreeze because it was empty. Problem solved! A few weeks later my truck starts hesitating when going up hills or when pressing gas pedal. I took it to transmission shop. They test drove it and said wasn’t transmission. Wanted me to bring it back. I have removed throttle body and cleaned it. I cleaned MAF sensor, changed plugs. I dropped gas tank to check filter which wasn’t in the tank. There is no fuel filter anywhere that we could find. Any help would be greatly appreciated

@15whtrd do you know where the fuel filter is on your sequoia? Drivers side inner frame rail?

Also, you said there was no coolant when you overheated. Are you talking about he rad or the overflow? Have you noticed any signs of a head gasket failure?

Fuel filter should be along the frame rail. There are two types, either quick release clips (delicate) or nuts.

    Any codes going off?

No signs of head damage. Doesn’t overheat anymore. The radiator was very low on coolant. I checked under frame rail and no signs of filter. Looks as if previous owner ran straight fuel line

Also there is no CEL on. I did notice when I changed plugs that truck is running lean. Don’t know if this helps

Wanted to add too that when I reset the computer by removing battery cables it stops for about a day and starts back. Also when pressing gas pedal it seems like it’s hard to press and rpms go up to 3000 at 45 mph before it shifts
