Howdy. Just purchased a 2006 AC from a buddy of mine.
First thing I noticed was how obnoxiously loud the remote lock/unlock beeper was.
Did a search, tried the key in, key out, key back in, turn to on for 10+ seconds etc. several times and no dice. Sounds like my sex life.

More searches indicated the beeper was under hood near the brake booster so I hunted around and found what looked like a suspect to me based on the large hole in it. Chewed up some bubble gum and stuck it on the hole and bingo. 90% quieter. So quiet in fact that the door locks are now louder than the beeper.

More permanent fix is putting an expanding ear plug in the hole.
I suppose I could just unplug it, it has a short lead coming off to a grey connector.

I'm posting so that similarly minded folks can do the same and know what to look for.
Mine does not look like the grey box seen in other threads. It's red, and round, about the diameter of a quarter. Mine was wrapped in foam tape, I guess so it wouldn't bounce around.
The yellow wiring is not OEM btw. But you can see the general location on the drivers side wheel well.
    upload_2024-7-6_14-13-23.jpg 2006 Tundra beeper.jpg

Based on the writing on it I tracked down the manufacturer, Floyd Bell-Ohio, and learned that this crazy thing is rated for 103 dB at 2 feet.
Anyway, making this introduction by way of my first post.
    Hope it helps someone!

Yup, it's been covered a couple times, but you never know what post will click or get found by people hunting first. Here's the best picture of the location I've seen. https://www.tundras.com/threads/03-...histle-while-truck-is-off.56902/#post-1487460

That's linked from this thread, with other ideas about how to reduce the sound. Not as creative as your solution. Virtually all piezos are the same, cover or reduce the size of the hole to reduce the volume. Old, deaf assholes like me sometimes need it because we're apparently too forgetful to remember where we parked, and the louder that fucker is, the easier it is to avoid calling Uber or Lyft.

In case anyone needs it, OEM replacement part here, though you can buy splice-in aftermarket.

Awesome first post, welcome to the forum!

I put a piece of duck tape over mine and it muffled it pretty well. I shortly realized though that I prefer the beep so I know if it actually locked or not.
I need to find a way to kill the beep for the seatbelt alarm.

The first method you tried will work. But likely not on the first or second try. I posted nearly the exact same thing. I tried the method described in the key fob manual, no luck. So I tracked down the speaker itself and disconnected it. But then I worried...if the alarm is set off somehow by me or someone else, can it still disable the truck, lock me out etc? The only thing I had changed was my ability to hear it. Everything was still active, I just had no way of knowing if the alarm was going off.

So I tried the method described in the key fob manual a few more times and eventually got it right.

I know some people don't mind, or actually even like it, but I can't tolerate a beep whenever I lock or unlock my truck. Of course I live in a fairly rural state. I don't lock my doors at home. But when I do, I'm able to hear the lock engaging. In a noisier environment, I might have more trouble hearing it.

    Teed that up.
I definitely do but I crank the truck before I buckle up and I find the beeping annoying. Like a nagging spouse. “Just give me a minute and I’ll do it.”

Lucky. Maybe if I let it beep enough it will die. But not sure I have the patience or sanity to wait that long.

Mine too. Or maybe the beep goes away really quickly...will check next time. I know that I can drive without a seatbelt and not get beeped at. It's a rare thing, but sometimes out in the mountains, driving slow crawly kind of stuff on the way to a hike, I'll take off the belt. I remember being happy I didn't get beeped at. Wonder if they added more "safety" features to later model years, or if someone disabled something on my '02?

My 2003 didn't beep at all, but the 2006 does. Might need to look for said beep device.

I want to say GM typically used a buzzer module that looked similar to a relay. Or maybe that was for the key alarm, that buzzed when the keys were inserted and driver door was open.
