    Hello Tundra people,
I hope that someone could shed light and help me out. My 2006 Tundra Crew SR5 is stuck in park and will not come out. My son got under the truck last week and disconnected the link on the transmission, and I assume worked it manually. It worked...Since I dont drive the truck often, I cranked the truck and made sure it still worked for the next several days. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of rain recently so I didn't check that for a few days. Went out yesterday and sure enough will not come out of park again.
Ive researched youtube many times looking for a solution and even though there are many similar issues and fixes, I'm confused which one would work. Yesterday was the first time PO705, 'transmission range sensor circuit malfunction', code came up.
    Can anyone please advise.
    Many thanks forward..
    Fred

What did your son say about it? Was it covered in rust? Rust penetrant should help keep it loose if that’s the case after he works it free.

    Thanks Jack,
No it wasn’t covered in rust. Just had some surface type. Yes I gave him a can of PB Blaster and told him to saturate it. But apparently that wasn’t the problem. He lives too far away to get him back anytime soon, so guess these old bones will have to crawl down there any try it again. Some YT videos mention the sensor at the brake peddle, some go into the steering column and so on. I was hoping to diagnose it and not just start part changing. But thanks for your interest.

Some of the other 2005-2006 owners might be able to help you here. I’ve only dealt with a broken shifter assembly I had to replace by pulling the steering column apart on my 02 Tundra.

There is a little plunger that moves when the brake pedal is depressed. It can get stuck due to corrosion. Take a screwdriver and try to push it in a few times to see if it releases

    Thanks for all the feedback,
Yes I’ve watched this YT video 3 times so far, and the one about the plunger at brake pedal also. I’ll probably take the plunger on first and if no luck, guess I’ll look at the mechanism on the side of the transmission again. I then may go into the steering wheel part.
    I’ll update as I go.
    Thanks again

As stupid as this sounds, check the brake lights for proper operation. Also check the fuse for the brake circuit.

Don’t crawl under the truck and mess with the transmission linkage without at least chocking the wheels, even better is to have someone in the vehicle with a foot on the brake until you can get back out from under the vehicle. Safety third!!

Thank you. I do try to always think first before acting, especially now that I don’t react nearly as quick as I did many years ago.
