2007-2013 Tundra LED Headlight Options!

Hey 2nd Gen. Crew!

I can imagine that Lighting has always been an issue for this specific Truck, because it performed Terribly in our Testing! I'm sorry, but 250 Lux measured @ 25 feet from a Wall is equivalent to taping a couple Zippo lighters to the front of your truck. No thank you! In this post, I wanted to show you just what can be accomplished on your lighting with a simple LED bulb replacement, See the video just below!

We went and installed some of today's most commonly purchased LEDs into the 2nd Gen. Tundra housings, as well as some of our Highest-Rated LEDs that we have seen to Date and the results were very interesting to see! HUGE improvements over the Stock setup. Comparing them to the OEM Halogen, we are looking for a few key factors here when testing these bulbs. We want to see Uniform Beam Patterns, Consistent light across the Beam, no Glare/Fuzziness above the Hot-Spot, and a Defined Cut-Off line.

Here are some Numbers for you across the board! We'll start with the OEM bulb and work our way down.

OEM Halogen: 250 Lux


Nighteye LED: 630 Lux

Diode Dynamics SL1 LED: 930 Lux


Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 LED: 950 Lux


S-V.4 LED: 1,280 Lux


GTR Lighting Ultra 2 LED: 1,350 Lux



It's insane what just a simple Plug and Play LED bulb can do in terms of Safety and Peace of Mind on the road at night! We've tried many other LEDs in these housings off-camera with the same results back to back much like the Nineo and Nighteye, they usually have a hard time developing a useable beam pattern and usually focus too much on a Blue hugh of color. But when you install something of quality like the SL1, V.4, or the Ultra 2 LEDs, you get a very ideal beam pattern that equates to a much Richer hotspot, providing much more useable light for you the driver! The colors on bulbs like the Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 and the SL1 come in at a much more white hugh, which does great for all-year weather conditions!
If it were my personal Tundra, I would go with the S-V.4 or the Ultra 2 LEDs. The V.4s have an Amazing beam pattern in really anything you install it into, and the Ultra 2 is just Crazy with that output, paired with a Lifetime Warranty! Drive with Confidence.
