I am looking for a nice unicorn spec Tundra. My hope is to find a 2007+ regular cab short bed 4x4 with the 5.7 liter engine. I will travel nearly anywhere in the US for a nice one. If anyone has any leads, I would appreciate letting me know. Thanks

The real question is what is your budget?

I see them pop up from time to time but I specifically look for 2007+ Reg cab Tundras for sale often. I think the majority of 4x4s I see have the small V8. The 5.7 4X4 with the console shifter is the most desirable and hardest to find. People have argued that 2wd 5.7 are less common but I can generally find several easily down here in Texas.

I would avoid one from up in the NE, seems Toyota sold alot of 4x4 5.7s up there. I looked at a few and everyone was very rusty.

After months and months of looking I finally found one in Texas that was originally from Arizona. (No rust)... They exist but you really have to look hard for them. Be prepared to spend some money though, especially for the super clean low mileage ones.

Thanks for the response. I don't have a specific budget. I live in Ohio and I expect to travel outside of my area for a rust free one. My preference is the 4x4 5.7 with the bench seat/column shifter.

I've been looking and waiting for months to pull the trigger on one... I check almost everyday online and keep missing my opportunity to make a move because someone always sweeps it out from under me or I get cold feet :(
Been looking for a low mileage RCSB 5.7 4x4 that's Black for a long while with no luck

Best of luck with your search. Maybe we can compare notes on anything we may find for sale.

I saw that one for sale it's just a little far away for me personally and I didn't really feel like spending $3000-$4000 on shipping alone lol. Plus it isn't black :)

I've waited this long, might as well wait for the perfect one to pop up in my feed.

I'm only 5 hours away so picking it up later this week. Undercarriage pics from the dealer show how incredibly clean it is. That is what sold me on it.

Well congratulations on your purchase! What made you decide you want a RCSB? Replacing another tundra or is it your first one?

Was looking for a tacoma for my 17 year old, but can't find anything in decent shape for a fair price... rusted out. This dealer has a location about 30 minutes from me and I just happened to look at their Milwaukee location and this caught my eye. Should be a good safe truck for him. I had a 2001 Tundra years ago that Toyota replaced the frame for me at no charge. Sold it 5 years ago with 122k on it. Wished I had that now for my son, would have saved me $$$! :)

Well you are in for a treat then! My 07 is the most reliable thing my family has ever owned as I bought it from my dad after he owned it for over 12 years and I just rolled over 260k miles last week. First thing your gonna notice is how much more pick-up it'll have compared to the old 4.7 in your first tundra (lots of torque). Should be a great first truck for him!

Please keep us updated on how you like it once you make your long trip back home!

Are these 17 or 18 inch stock wheels/tires? Can you go with 20" wheels/tires on stock ride height without rubbing? If so what is that ideal size? Or if I go the route of aftermarket wheels, stay with 18's? No plans to lift it, will remain stock height.

they are 18's, there are not many 17's that would clear the front brakes. the forged "rock warrior" wheels are the only factory 17" to my knowledge.

you can go stock height on 20's EASILY with 275 55 r 20 tires. After that you have to start looking at wheel offset to clear larger tires with 0 modification. usually the first thing that rubs is the front little mud flap in front of the front tire. larger tires with different weight ratings add weight and you lose MPG's. lots of 35 inch tires measure 34.6ish and with the right offset you can get them to fit even without a lift with real minor trimming of plastic. there is a sweet spot to clear the upper control arm for offset, if you push the offset out too far you will rub on other things and end up having to do a cab/body mount chop and bumper spacers.

this post has a ton of good info:

Older gentleman the next street over has one. It’s even my preferred color. But it’s mine! All mine! If he ever lets it go.
