My center console leather is starting to come off. Instead of upholstering the leather I was thinking of replacing the lid with a newer one similar to the 2014 and up model with the cell phone pocket on top, but im not sure if it will fit. Has anyone tried this or know of a replacement that will fit? Id like to have the phone pocket so i can modify it to include a wireless charger. Some info or help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It doesn’t fit and won’t fit without some serious modifications. The latches are completely different, the mechanisms don’t line up, the shape of the arm rest itself is different from one another. Not saying to can’t be don’t but it definitely isn’t plug and play. What I’d like to know is if the rear portion of the gen 3 console can tie into the gen 2 to make this work.

I think someone tried to do a gen 3 console in a gen 2 and it didn't fit right. When my lid starts to go I'm going to see about having a custom foam put in with a cut away for the phone to fit and a wireless charger mounted to the lid. I know the gen 3 charger is nice, but they have tons of wireless chargers that would work if you went another route.

thats a good point and a good option. Ill look into the foam cut away and see if that works. I appreciate the advice. Thank you.
