    https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/06/us/ford-f-150-recall/index.html

Ford has recalled about 2 million F-150 pickup trucks in North America because a seat belt mechanism has started fires.

The company said it was aware of 17 reports in the United States where smoke or fires broke out, and another six cases in Canada, but said it didn't know of any accidents or injuries that resulted.
The company blamed the issue on the vehicle's seat belt pretensioners, equipment designed to help secure passengers in the event of an accident or crash by reducing the slack in seat belts. The equipment uses a small device that emits gas, Ford said, which could ignite if there are "excessive sparks," causing insulation and carpets inside the truck to catch fire.

The recall affects 2015-2018 F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCrew Cab

Not too hi tech .it cinches the seatbelt. Down to hold the occupant better when a crash is detected. They have a very good success rate in larger vehicles of helping in crashes. A lot of new fire trucks have this feature, very helpful when wearing all their turn out gear.

Now not helping to save face on Ford's but the technology and data is sound. Somehow something was probably missed in production. You know like sharpel in airbags

lol right. read the article and it's some sort of component that emits a gas that they're afraid will get sparked.

Nuclear powered, I believe. Ford's control rod mechanism malfunctions, allowing too high of fission rates, causing meltdowns in its seatbelt systems.

Well, OSU is generally "sub" .500 in all major sports (except baseball).

Terrible joke, I'll let myself out...

Was a die-hard Ford guy. Glad I decided to stray away on my latest truck purchase. My last 2 F-150s really left a sour taste in my mouth .
