Just bought a 2007 Limited 2wd with 168k miles for $7500 knowing the it needs some kind of transmission fix.

It goes from drive to reverse really hard. It doesn’t do it from park to revere after starting up. It seems to have no torque and kinda sluggish starting to accelerate. After the truck gets going it shifts through the other gears very smoothly and runs well.

I just got it home yesterday and have yet to investigate. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely start by checking the Trans fluid level first. Its not very difficult, but there is a certain procedure you have to follow to get it right. Lots of great info here if you use the search function, plus lots of great vids on YouTube to guide you through the process. Good luck.

^This. Check the fluid level first.

Inspect electrical connections to the trans, and all related fuses. Also check any ground wires you can find.

Electrical gremlins can cause some crazy issues, there were issues on the 6.0 ford trans where the ground current found its way through the internals of the transmission and cooked it, all because of a broken ground wire.

C1201 is zero point calibration. I have similar issues there.

Update. It is a solenoid. It has been starting off in a higher gear for a short spurt. Now the concern is if the clutches have started burning out or not. Going to drop the pan Tuesday and we will know more on how we should proceed at that point. If the pan is clean and no signs of metal or black stuff from clutches we will put in solenoid and ride.if we end up having to fix, Is it worth doing the rebuild/reman? It has 168k 2wd limited CrewMax
