I realize this probably isn’t that big of an issue these days as the early 2nd Gen Tundras are 14 to 15 years old, but my 08 is still running strong at 240K miles. I finally got the P2440 code for the air injection valve not closing. Both pumps are working well so I pulled the bank 1 hose and sure enough I could feel engine exhaust pressure. It’s just a little solenoid valve so I back pressured the hose with some low pressure compressed air to reseat the valve. It worked great. Not a long term fix, but it will keep me out of limp mode while I wait on my new valve to be delivered.

Why not install the bypass kit?

I looked into the bypass kit, but I was able to get to valve for half the price. I figured it’s a low risk move since the first set of valves lasted 240k miles. Have you used the bypass kit? If so any issues with it?

The bypass kit does what it's supposed to and the company behind it is very helpful if you run into snags. The SAIS has multiple failure modes, so while it might be a valve today, it could be a different component down the road (and maybe while you're far from home and stuck paying dealership repair prices).

@audiowize We really appreciate your kind words and recommending the Hewitt Technologies Bypass Kit. If I had to bet you most likely went with an aftermarket component and they are cheap for a reason. I hope you were able to get life our of but in our experience sometimes they can cause more issues then resolve. We have even seen owners go through 2 -3 set of Factory/OEM parts. If you ever run into the issue again recommend you taking a look at the Bypass. Below I have included link to a few recent threads on the SAIS.
