New to the group so I figured I would throw this out for feedback. I have a 2010 Tundra Crew Cab 4x4 w/tow package. The truck has the 5.7L and currently has 73k miles on it. I have had the truck since new and had it lifted by a professional shop back in 2010. I have never had any issues with this truck at all until about two months ago, the trans started feeling funny during acceleration and got worse with time. No codes showed up so I took it to Toyota to be looked at and they told me it was 4 qts low on fluid (this trans is a sealed unit). They could not find any leaks and I keep the truck in my garage and can attest it has never leaked a drop. So they service it up and it seems ok for about three days and then the shifting issues reappear. I went back to Toyota and all they had to say was we can replace the transmission for $7k but that's all we can do. Since they had nothing to offer I went to a transmission shop who looked at it and said it was 2 qts low. Again no leaks at all. I also checked the radiator to see if it was leaking through the trans cooler but nothing. Also was told to check the breather on the transfer case to see if it was leaking into there but that was dry also. After servicing it the second time I took the truck back and two days later I now finally had a check engine light on, flashing 4x4 light and traction control light on. Truck went into limp mode and pretty much had no power. So back to the transmission shop now and they cleared the codes, disconnected battery drove the truck. Same codes and lights came back. Codes P2714, P0984, U0199, C1201. At this point the shop dropped the pan and said there are not big pieces of metal but more slivers than they would expect to see. I have owned Toyota's for the past 30 yrs and have never had any problems so I was quite surprised over this issue. Has anyone else had this issue and is there any other options than replacing the transmission? Sorry for the long winded post. I appreciate the help.

Hey Danny, pretty strange, specially after servicing and adding fluid back. There is a bolt in the oil pan for fluid level check which you can see in youtube videos demonstrating how to do it but I realize you are past that point.
I am in Canada so parts are really expensive here but I found pretty good deals on transmissions on ebay in the US in the worst case scenario. Big problem now is that you will rely on the transmission shop to estimate the repairs and another shot in the dark if it fails again. I would get a quote for the fix with them and also compare with used ones on ebay.
    best of luck!

Hey Danny, did you solve the issue? I am wondering how did you solve the problem.

I am currently in the similar situation.

    Thanks.
