My truck has 122,000 and I’m on my 5 set of tires. Been to 2 different Toyota garages and several other garages they all say I’m with in specs and my tires are wearing out on the outside edges and I can not figure out why. Im to the point of replacing the entire front end. There has not been any upgrades either and I have had bought this truck new

Try body shop that has a frame machine and have them check the dimensions.

    Alot of them
Pics would help. Tire rotation is key on these trucks. The outer edges do wear faster on the Tundras.

Ok but I’m wearing out a set of 70,000 mile tires from 25,000 to 30,000 miles. I would not be saying anything if they wore out at 50 to 60 thousand miles. I’ve rotated my tires of course the only thing I have not done is take the tire off the rim and flip the tire which outside of the tire would be the inside. Sorry no pictures of tires just put a new set on.

I have a 2010 also, same issue. New tires are about half way worn down on the front outside edges at 7k miles. yes, rotating will help, but even if I have the tires flipped on the wheels at the next rotation, I should struggle to get 30k out of them.

I did also have my alignment done at the new tire installation, and checked recently. Shop said it is "in spec" of 0.1 degree positive camber.

To the best of my knowledge, the primary reason for running positive camber is to have the tires match the crown of the road, so the inside edges dont wear as much. I'm thinking of asking them to move to a few tenths of a degree negative camber on the next alignment. This would slightly change the cornering balance but I think not substantially (it should be no worse than adding a rear sway bar in terms of making the truck tail-happier).

You take your turns too fast. Wears the outer fronts quicker.

Most of my driving is on windy, hilly, two-lane paved state highways. Lots of corners at 50ish mph. So, yes. But, I (and it seems the OP @GLS67) am wondering if there is a mechanical solution that can mitigate this issue.

@snivilous apologies but I don't have the alignment doc, they showed it to me when I had it checked and the front camber was +0.1 degree.

Has anyone tried a non-stock alignment, for any reason? I'm curious of the results. I have done this with cars, more for performance/autocross reasons, with decent results.

My 2010 had that problem. The shop that installed the leveling kit and new oversized wheels/tires said alignment was spot on. After the first set of tires wore out very quickly, I took it to a second shop for checking and they said the first shop maxed out the camber adjustments but it wasn't enough and had to modify the install. After that, I didn't have the wear problems. So sometimes a second opinion is good to have.

@Brazak do you know what they modified about the install? Was it changing control arms, or some other component? Or just re-adjusting the alignment?

FWIW I have 5100s on the lowest setting, no other suspension mods - so suspension geometry should be near-stock.

I really don't recall. That happened in 2009/2010 when I first bought the truck. Just that the second shop fixed the first shops problem and that I was happy with the cost. Sorry..

I got a 2010 and will keep my eyes and ears open for this issue. So far I haven't experienced anything like this.

. Sorry everyone just trying to get this figured out not what I wanted or how I wanted it but this is what I got. Anyways the last alignment I did I wanted them to bring the top of the tire in well I see they did not do as I asked them so now I’ll take it elsewhere here asap since I did put new tires on so I’ll keep everyone informed on what happens
