I just had to post this because I never thought a dealer could rip you off so bad.

I took my wife's matrix in finally for the airbag recall because frankly, I got sick of the letters and calls from Toyota. I had the airbag off for like a year so there was no possibility of accidentally discharging.

Anyway, they did the work and of course I get a text that they think the car needs some work. Of course it does, it's got 200k miles but it's minor.
    1. Brakes and turn rotors
    2. Radiator hoses spongy
    3. Timing cover seeping
    4. Carbon buildup fuel injection cleaner. ( my favorite one)
    5. ATF fluid. This is horseshit because I just drain and filled it twice in the last year.

All that for a grand total of a reasonable $4400.

I chuckled and looked at the kid, I asked what percentage of people fall for that? He looked flustered and said what do I mean. I literally bought brakes and new rotors from rockauto in front of him for 130 bucks, front and back, and all 4 Radiator hoses and pipe connections, from Toyota, for 82 bucks while sitting at his desk. I told him this is why people don't trust dealers and why I don't have non recall work done at dealers.

When I said why are you charging 40 bucks for a hose when I just bought it from Serra Toyota of Decatur with free shipping for 18 bucks? Again, he just looked flustered and said the price is straight from the computer. Just to be a sport i asked if he could price match to other dealers, and of course they said no lol.

I left with my wife who thought it was an incredible experience. She had never seen it with her own eyes the level of price gouging. It was great, now she will never complain about me spending time wrenching.

    Well, dumb.

What do they charge for labor to make those jobs $4400?!
