I am a new truck owner. Just purchased a 2011 Toyota Tundra 4.0L V6. Purchased through online dealer. When I got the vehicle I noticed it was revving higher at times between 2nd and 3rd gears and it would lose power for about 5 seconds. After you drive for about 5 to 10 minutes problem goes away and works perfectly through the gears. After a couple of weeks I noticed it would get stuck and not go past 3rd gear unless I pulled over and turn truck off and restart and then it would drive fine. I don't drive the truck much since I work from home. Took the truck out yesterday for a test drive, it was in mid-70's and had no issues at all. Took it out this morning and it was in mid-50's, no issues. The times when I had problems I believe the temps where probably in the 30 to low 50's. Took to several transmission places. One couldn't replicate the issues. One ran a diagnostic and said it returned codes: P0756, P0776 and P0781. One repair place wanted to sell me a new transmission. One a drain, fill and flush for $650. I am really thinking it has something to do with the outside temperature. At this point, unless the problem becomes repetitive where the local reputable auto repair shop can witness it, I am inclined not to do anything. However, I would welcome any input from the community. Thanks!

One shop stated fluid was fine and other said it wasn't. Neither said it was low? So who knows?? Could it be low fluid? I would think I would have issues all the time if it was low.

You most likely need new shift solenoid for those gears and new fluid/filter. I had a similar issue and it FINALLY got worse where I saw some pending codes and I found a bad solenoid (ohms half or rating and no click with 12v). A transmission shop CAN test them without dropping the pan. That will also test the condition of the wire harness connector as they will need to take it off to test.

Just need to find a reputable transmission shop that doesn't want to sell me a whole transmission.
