Hi, I was trying to find out if anyone had any ideas since I have a 2011 Toyota Tundra Platinum 4wd with the 5.7 with 185k miles and for the last month every one to two weeks every warning light would come on the dash when driving and it would be sloppy shifting. I took it to a Toyota dealer first and they couldn’t find anything wrong so they just cleared the code, it was shifting fine and everything was fine for a few weeks then all the lights came on again and this time went to a local mechanic and scanned it and it gave the code C1201 as the only error code which the mechanic said was strange since he said when that code is given there are always other error code the are more specific to the problem given. Also, he took apart the transmission since we thought it was something with that but he said mechanically it looked good and there was no issues, so I think it’s something electronic, but I have no way of finding out what it is. So if someone knows or has any ideas, please let me know, since I am hoping this truck lasts another year until I can get a new truck.

Took apart transmission? It was in limp mode due to code. Yes wierd no other code but maybe mechanic didn’t scan ABS computer and like @blackdemon_tt says your C1201 is likely caused by ABS code… from wet wheel speed sensor or something. Make sure to scan ABS computer next time. Only time ECS code will activate is due to another code unless ECM is bad and that is extremely unlikely.

I forgot to mention that the reason that we had the transmission taken apart is before that was done it was throwing the C1201 code with another code that led to the transmission having an issue, and for some reason one of the solenoids in the transmission was bad and had it replaced and it would shift fine and run fine until the code would come back in a few weeks. And I will have them scan the ABS computer when the code comes back. Thanks

What do you mean by that since, I am able to clear the code by taking the battery terminals off and ABS works fine after I clear it until the code comes back and it goes into limp mode a few weeks later?

Yes you can clear the code, but it comes right back, does your VSC and traction control flash?
I had the c1201 code, and needed to make an emergency stop, and I skidded clear across an intersection.... no ABS lighy..
Limp mode may be something else... like an SAIP issue. Secondary Air Injection Pump which will drop your truck in limp mode more often than anything else.

Get someone with Techstream on board and monitor the ABS computer, wheel sensors and all of that.
The Techstream software will test individual computers and others on the CAN bus for errors.
