Hey I'm looking for a new truck cap. The retailer said its a 18week wait for a new one. He said he has the cap I want but for a 2014. Can I make this work?

Its a truck cap where I will be keeping the tail gate installed

I believe the 2014 has a thicker tailgate so it wouldn't work without some modification.
