Any input on front wheel hub assembly. I have 250K on my truck and chasing some front end issues. Need to replace calipers and was thinking of doing wheel hubs also . Seems to be some mixed reviews on aftermarket hub assembly's. Dorman and TRQ are the 2 i was looking at

looks like a timken/koyo bearing pressed to original hub is the way to go

There's a guy on eBay who has pressed Koyo hubs for a reasonable price, I would do that if I had to do it again. (Which I probably will since I didn't realize I had gotten Dormans until after I put them on)

I have seen those. Was a little hesitant to buy in case they were fakes. Had a couple bad experiences with counterfeit parts from eBay

I don't think the market for Tundra front hubs is substantial enough to motivate the counterfeiters to do their thing.

I use Koyo bearings (they are the OEM supplier for Toyota Tundra) and the original hub.

I plan to do both sides. I bought one complete assembly (koyo) and then one koyo bearing . Will swap out the complete assembly first on one side first to save time, since i don't have a press. this way i can have all parts on hand to get truck put back together.

My plan is to go ahead and use the old hub and get it pressed off and on to the Koyo bearing to make a second assembly and have it complete and ready to install prior to disassembling the other side

I need to get a piece of large diameter steel tubing like you have. This seems like a better solution than the bag of 7/16" bolts I have that bend every time I use my bearing separator.

Nice video! Good knowledge. Nice to see a real Yota master believes in the product. Runs 2 inch spacers and a lift! Strong truck

Sounds good. BTW, you don't need to unbolt the sway bar to do the bearing like I did, only if you are replacing a strut.

Viktor- Do you use any lube/grease on any new parts or axle splines for reassembly?

Yeah, I grease the axle splines and the lip of the cap that covers the hub nut. And grease the seal lips of course.

thanks for all the help. I got my passenger side bearing and brake caliper swapped out. I had a little issue getting my bearing separated from the axle. I used the method you mentioned but used some nuts instead of a ball bearing which worked for the most part but wasn't abele to get it off all the way before i ran out thread to keep "pressing" When I tried to re tighten the bolts so I could put a larger nut behind the heads i stripped out my threads a little bit. Luckily i was able to get a tap and clean out the first couple threads enough to get the new assembly started.

Not sure if this side was the original bearing (i think it is) but truck has 260k on it and I think the bearing assembly I pulled was actually still good assembly. it appears to be tight and spins freely and doesn't make any noise

Whatever you do, don’t buy assemblies from Marion B2B. He sells 4Runner assemblies (not sure if he does Tundras [i don’t even know if they’re the same]) and is a complete shit seller. Save yourself the hassle if you see that name come up.

Hey Viktor- do you have a part number for the seal that you install between the hub and the new bearing? I need to get one . (i tired pulling up diagram on toyotas dealers parts site, but diagram is terrible and I cant see anything)

i dont have press so planning to take my old assembly and the new bearing to shop to get dissembled and pressed back together. was thinking of buying a new hub to simplify but it looks like i still would need to re-use the 4 mounting bolts off the old assembly. hopefully i can find someone that knows what they are doing

I’m pretty sure all the part numbers are shown in the video. I’m on vacation right now and don’t have access to the parts department

Want to post an update on the koyo eBay bearings. I purchased them due to this post. 6 months of use and I had 2 studs shear off. When I removed my wheel 2 more studs were loose. I tried to source replacement studs but the studs they use are smaller than oem. It’s Chinese crap unfortunately. Seller was unhelpful when contacted. Kyoautoparts was the sellers business on eBay.

I just figured out I need to replace my right front wheel bearing. From these posts I'm guessing it's best to get the bearing and hub assembly since I have no way to press them.

But, every video I watch to do this has a different grease cap over the axle nut than what I have. Mine seems to just be a cap recessed into the hub. I can't for the life of me get it out and I'm afraid of damaging it because I can't seem to find anywhere to buy a new one.

    Anyone seen this?

    Help?
