I am trying to remove this worthless spare tire lock to go back to the standard connection. Has anyone removed one of these? I see no pins or hardware to disconnect. Thanks.

That would only lower the spare. It would not remove this part. I want to remove this altogether and not have a special key.

Did you look at the install guide I linked? Looks like the lock is just pressed into the standard fitting, so get under and see if you can pry it out. I think you have to buy the whole hoist assembly, not just that one piece, to replace the tire mount bracket.

First question is resolved. I fiddle farted around with it and it just fell out of the holder. I don't know what was holding it in place to begin with.
However, since I ground out the lower piece to remove the tire, I still need to replace that part. Anyone know where I can find it or what I can use in place of it?

I managed to drive the pin out of the ass'y though the spare tire was still mounted. It was a complete pain in the a$$ but it worked. I bought truck used and it didn't have a key. I found out just by accident crawling around under the truck one day. Glad I found out before I was on the side of the road needing to change a tire.
