Lighter foot on the pedal. That's all I got. I have been averaging between 13 and 14 lately. Lots of highway miles though. If I'm in town all week and fighting traffic... I'm getting around 10 mpg.

I am light with the pedal. My comute is very short in traffic most times and that is my reading normally 9.6mpg. I thought it was normal until I saw thread today persons saying they get 13mpg. On the highway today I was doing 65mph to 70mpg it went up to 10.1mpg

I get around 13 combined. On short drives I’ll get 10 or so. On longer drives with highway driving I’ll get 14-16

Disconnect the negative battery cable for about 10 minutes, this will reset the computer. It will relearn your driving habit and the mpg should go up. I'm getting 15.3 mpg, 22 miles to work one way, 50/50 highway and city.

Try putting a can of Seafoam in it before your next fill-up. For me, I saw a 3mpg difference...

Keep it stock, or get used to crappy mileage. Pretty simple. I am stock, drive the speed limit, and this is what I get:

Very short commutes in traffic are going to translate to lower MPG for sure. I think you'd find yourself on the low end of fuel efficiency in any vehicle, it's just the nature of that type of driving.

Short trips are considered ‘heavy service’, as well. Oil change intervals need to be shortened due to the engine not getting up to operational temps for extended periods. The moisture in the oil will not burn off.

In general for any vehicle, long highway miles are good and short trips are bad. These trucks are not good on the MPG.

I would hand calculate it as others have said. Also, try resetting the average fuel economy when you get on the highway next time to get a better idea of your highway mpgs specifically. Check what it reads as soon as you exit the highway and hopefully you have better results.

I recently upgraded to my Tundra from a Z71. Drove Chevy's since '99. Needless to say, I was in MPG shock when I got the Tundra. Much research and lurking on forums and realize that the Tundra is what it is. Had to stop comparing to a Chevy before I really started to love my truck. Computer is anywhere from 9.3 to 13 city driving. I live 19 miles from work. Some city and rural roads on drive everyday. When I shut the truck off I usually get around 15.5 (computer) on my commutes. Overall tank average (computer) averages around 15.5 Recently took it on a trip to B'ham AL, around 459 miles to destination. Filled up before I left and pushed it until around 20 miles to empty (computer). Almost 31 gallons to fill up, average around 15. We had an infant with us so we had some stops and idling time. Truck only had a little over 5k on it for that trip.

Thank you all for responding. Appreciated. In winter I do warm up before so now i understand that effect. I also realized that my short commute and traffic contribute. I do service often. I am at Balise at the moment as I am typing this having just done 2500 between service. Just schedule service. Oil is synthetic so no change. Tire rotation.

One thing for the forum. One of my tire had to be pumped twice within 3 weeks. They just check and told me the tire-pressure sensor o-ring was the faulty point. Replacement is $120. if anyone experience the same thing they know that possibility. I

Unless you reset it while you're driving the trip computer is not instantaneous readings. It's a calculation based off your total mileage/economy since you last reset it. So if you hadn't reset it in 3000 miles and only drove 50 miles on the interstate it's going to have little or no effect on changing the output.

My '14 averages about 15 on the low end and 18 highway. That's unloaded not towing with the tonneau down. I usually drive right at 70 hwy.

One of the reasons why I've got rid of my 1794 2016 tundra was I was only getting between 10 and 12 miles to the gallon. I downsize to the Tacoma and I'm waiting for them to do a refresh on the tundra and I'll buy a new one

If you had a big lift and beefy tires, then yeah I could see 10mpg being normal. It seems low for a stock truck. Mine's a 2014 with 3" lift and 33" tires and i'm getting a little over 14mpg.. granted it's not a 1794, but I can't imagine that makes a difference.

You are getting what I get towing my 5000 lb Champion Bay boat. Short trips will kill the MPGs. Cold weather hurts too. A 40 degree day will drop mine about 1. Wind is another factor but not so much unless you are trying to do 75 on the hwy.. Mechanically, old/dirty plugs will hurt. I have never noticed any difference with a new air filter.

10mpg is what I get on a 3 inch lift with 35s and a supercharger. The vehicle computer reads 15mpg while the hand calculations And Bully Dog shows 10.

Got to love these people that talk about getting awful gas mileage in their Tundra...what a joke! Keep your foot off the gas and driving it like a sports car and you can get great gas mileage out of the Tundra! This discussion is getting old! Averaging 18 mpg and couldn’t be happier with that number considering the size of the truck.
