Over the past year or so all the door locks have been failing to work with the key fob. At first it was intermittent but now both front door locks have quit. This is a pain in the a-- I didn't pay 43000 dollars for a truck that I have to use the key to unlock 1990s style of getting in!!!!! Has anyone heard if Toyota might recall for this problem I have seen others with the same problem. I am calling the dealer next week since I bought the truck 200 miles away

There is a $5 motor inside the door lock actuator that is the issue. There are youtube videos showing step by step instructions on how to replace it. A new actuator from tiyota is over $200 plus labor. I replaced the motor in my passanger door in about an hour. Go slow and follow the videos

Do the electric locks work with the buttons on the inside of the door?
Might just be a dead battery in the fob.

My Wife's '14 Venza did the same thing. 3 out of 4 doors stopped working, dealer wanted $400+ each. We have extended warranty on it, told him to make some calls and figure it out, let me know when he was done. The extra grand paid for it self.
Why no recall I don't know, there should be.

I had the same problem in my 15 CM. First the drivers door went out, then about 6 weeks later the passenger door went out, and then 4 weeks later the rear drivers side went! Now to get them fixed is about $450 a piece. I raised hell with Toyota because the only thing they could tell me was "well these are a mechanical device that will eventually fail". I was so pissed. I talked to everyone up to the owner of the dealership and then I had to call corporate (which is an even bigger pain in the ass!). I refused to pay the $1800 to fix something that should not go out on a truck that is 3 years and 1 month old (that's right 1 month past warranty!) and less than 40k miles on it. Finally after about 2 weeks of calling everyone and visiting the dealership half a dozen times and making an ass of myself in the process they finally agreed to fix the problem.

Bit of a touchy subject for me. My second Tundra and after spending $42000 I expected a little more from them.

Yeah I found them on eBay too. But I think I was more pissed about Toyota not standing behind there product and wanted them to fix it.

I have a 2016 Tundra TRD PRO with 37k miles. Within the first year I had the front driver and passenger actuators fail. Both were replaced under warranty. Just had my 36k mile oil change and the back passenger driver side went out, they wont fix it b/c Im 1k miles over warranty (under the 3 years however). Im now in the stage of raising hell...hopefully it gets me somewhere. This my first Toyota and switched from Chevy Tahoe due to little crap breaking left and right (and eventually the tranny).

So some good news...I did submit a customer service case with Toyota US headquarters. They got in touch with the local dealer and they will now cover the replacement of the door actuator

Still curious as to how many others are having this problem. And of course, now will wait for the last remaining one to fail...hopefully if it does it will quickly.

So the 4th door lock actuator finally failed, however both Corporate and the local dealer wont fix it (said they are only allowed to provide one out of warranty repair for free....BS). How can all 4 door actuators fail within a 3 year span (sigh)...

I probably will have this truck a while so might as well get used to replacing these things.... I replaced a Tahoe one (after 15 years) previously and it was a pain in the #@#. Outside of the toyota care oil changes until 60k miles, im not letting them touch anything else..esp for $$$.

I recently had this same issue on both passenger side front and rear doors. Luckily I have an extended warranty. If I remember correctly it would have costed $580 if it wasn’t covered.

My previous Toyota front passenger door got to where it would not lock or unlock with the key fob or the door switches. I removed the door panel, unhooked the harness to the actuator and sprayed it down good with electrical cleaner. Let it dry then put it all back together and it started working again.

There should be a recall on this issue. I've replaced all door lock actuators at least two times some doors three times. The first two times where covered by Extended Warranty (100,000 miles). However after the warranty ended, instead of purchasing new ones for $300 dollars a piece and paying for an easy install, I decided to replace the $10 dollar motors inside the actuators myself. Took about 1 hour for the first one, than 30 minutes for the other two. The hardest part was removing the actuator from the door. Below is a link from Amazon and a link on how to replace the motor.

My truck currently has 170,000 miles.

Can someone help me to verify that the replacement parts numbers for my 2014 SR4Tundra are accurate?
