I have read the reviews online, however, I am curious know what personal experience has anyone had with a 2015 1794 Edition? What did you like, what did you not like, anything positive or negative you can share? I am asking, because I am about to purchase this truck and my plan is to keep it for a very long time and use it for long road trips with my family. Appreciate the help!

The ONLY things I don’t like about 1794 are the chrome front end and the interior color scheme with seats that look like the skinned some basketballs and the walnut grain trim.

These are also some of the things that others LOVE about the 1794.

For me, the Platinum is more appealing because the trim is more muted with body color front clip and black interior finishes.

Functionally and feature-wise, the 1794 and Platinum are the same. They’re the highest trim levels available in the 2.5 Gen Tundras. I’m a little north of 150K miles on my 2018 Platinum and haven’t had a single problem with it yet. Still love the truck.

Your biggest complaint with a 2015 is it will most likely have a small 26 gallon gas tank. If I remember correctly, the fat tank was offered later…

What you need to know is that the 2.5 Gen Tundras are very reliable, if maintained. Just realize that at 2015, you are getting near 10-years and there will inevitably be aging items that will have to be replaced soon, regardless of mileage. It can still be very reliable long term though.

I think the biggest issue with any Toyota near that age, regardless of generation, is rust. Get under it and thoroughly check it.

As far as a road trip vehicle, it is awesome for that. We use ours all the time with our 3-kids. The only thing better for road trips IMO is the Sequoia.

You can't go wrong with the 15' 1794. My 14' 1794 has close to 200k miles with only a blinker going out so far. Interior has held up great as well. Funny thing is, to this day the amount of chrome still bugs me. Just not enough to actually change it.

I have a 2018 and it’s been a great truck. I love the brown leather and accents. I’ve done 6 door lock motors though. I now buy them in packs on Amazon and open up the door lock housing replacing just the motors. Otherwise it’s been gas and go.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I don't like the chrome on the front of my 1794, but that is easily replaceable with a Platinum grill. I plan to do that after bugs and rocks have had their way with the chrome.

What? You didn't keep the blinker fluid topped off? :D

In full transparency, I did recently have to replace a license plate bulb on my 2018. $3 and 49 seconds later, I was back in bidness.

Ditto dislike of the all chrome trim and Ford "King Ranch" pleather/suede interior trim. Also will add not a big fan of the auto deploying power side of cab steps, just seem like a maintenance issue waiting to happen. But rock solid Toyota build and reliability (as expected as I'm a 15 year Toyota owner). My 2019 had 80K miles on it when I got it 4 months ago, I've put nearly 10k more on it and plan on getting it up to 300K before I look for a replacement.

Plan to replace all fluids (trans, diffs, t-case, power steering, brake, radiator), spark plugs, and serp belt at 100K as part of your preventative maintenance if you’re looking to keep it for a long time. It’ll thank you and keep on truckin’.

This is true, I have a '16 platinum and love it. Have the larger gas tank as well. No problems, I added an aftermarket apple CarPlay system with better speakers and it really makes it a more current feeling truck at least tech wise, added a front camera too. I bought the platinum because it looks better, otherwise exactly same as 1794. I suggest a platinum. We do road trips, it's great for kids and luggage, get a tonneau cover. I don't love the 1794 color scheme, except the wood steering wheel seems nice. That being said a '15 1794 will be a great truck and very reliable etc. It's personal preference.
