I'm currently a Tacoma owner looking to upgrade. I'm trying to keep it under 30k if possible and I've come across a 2016 SR5 CrewMax with 117k miles. They're asking $27k for it (unnegotiated price so that could come down).

Obviously that's a lot of miles for a 2 year old car, and I wanted to get some opinions on whether or not that should be something I stay away from. At first glance, 100k on a 2 year old car would indicate mainly highway miles, which should be a good thing, but I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with a similar situation.

Doesn't seem like a good deal. Is it 4X4?

Are you seeking financial advice or if the particular truck you're thinking about is a good idea or not? 117k miles shouldn't cause any alarms if the history report checks out and you get a PPI and the test drive is good. There areny any major common issues to worry about. Just like buying any used car. The price you pay will depend on your negotiating skills and researching what would be a good deal in your area. No different than buying any other car.

Financially, depends how long you intend to keep it, how many miles you will drive, and what you think it will be worth when you sell it compared to what you bought it for. Might also make sense to figure out the depreciation drop if you plan on putting a lot of miles on it in case it's in an accident. You probably don't want the insurance company to value it below what you owe if your financing. Again, same as buying any car though.

I got 2016 DC sr5 Offroad 4x4 61,000 miles for $30,500. You have to do research around 100 miles of your area and find a average. Accounting for options. And go from there and get them down if it’s used usually they won’t go down a crazy amount but def 1-2k that 112,000 miles seems high. I think I would pass for that price

Thanks Stig, I'm mainly interested in whether or not it would be a good idea or not. Not necessarily financial advice, just moreso high mileage on a newer Tundra is something I should stay away from. I'm just now starting my search so still identifying what a good deal on one of these would be.

And that was January of this year and I’m not saying anything is wrong with that tuck I’m sure it has plenty of life left but...I bet there are a couple more tundras for sale out there for better deal. I spent 2 months. Every night online and every weekend at dealerships. And 2 months is like 10 years for someone as impulsive as me. :annoyed:

That’s a ton of miles in a short time. My 2011 has less than that.

My 07 has 93K. Definitely a lot of miles for any 2016 truck but it is a Tundra. I definitely agree with @Stig.

i dont think that sounds like a good deal at all. I just bought my 2015 4x4 SR5 CM with 68k miles for $31k. I dont think I got a great deal but I was willing to pay a little more because it already had just about every mod that I would have wanted to do.

Trucks sure are expensive for only being half of an suv. I remember helping my old boss buy a 07 CM limited 4x4(40-50k miles) back in 2010 and he got it for about 27k.

My 2017 has 60,000. If the Truck has been serviced i wouldn't be to concerned about the miles.

well the good thing is that it's well broken in and no major issues if it has 117K already with no issues on carfax/Toyota site. Most of the issues have been flushed at that point. I would try to get it for a lower price though.
