I have a 2017 Tundra SR5. I’ve never really used the navigation system but when I tried recently it wasn’t working. The dealer wants $167.00 plus tax to upgrade it with a thumb drive. Since I can use my phone through the radio for music and calls, is there an app that can be used to link something like the Waze app and display those findings on trucks screen. The dealer said the upgrades are a must every three years. Of course, I didn’t buy theirs. Your input is appreciated.

the only way you can use waze, google maps and etc.. is by having carplay/android auto. carplay/android auto was not available on Tundras until 2020+. you can however go with an aftermarket headunit that can support carplay/android auto if you choose to do so.

The dealers upgrade is a map pack...

You can do it yourself in about 20 mins (most of that is waiting on the truck to update its software)

Copied the same post I made on the exact same topic but for an 18' last night :D

If you want to update the stock nav, you can search the part # for the map pack.

This was the latest one i found when i did it the other day.

put that part number into Amazon and get the item for 25$ is what i did, plugged it into my sd card slot and waited on it to update. No issues.

This is only a map pack upgrade, not features or functionality.
