Hello need help on this one had oil changed at dealer 2k miles ago ( 2 weeks ) the day after that I went on trip 8 hours to mountains of new york to purchase boat checked oil when I got back and it was ok yesturday on way home from work check engine light came on got home let truck sit 1 hr fairly level checked oil nada nothing on dip stick took wife's car and went to auto zone and bought 5 qt 0w20 full synthetic checked again 2 hrs later still nada truck ran fine all the way home so I poured oil in took all 5 qts and is slightly below 1st dot on dip stick no obvious signs of oil loss ( puddles signs in engine bay etc ) added another qt to get to normal fill line , boat towed was 7800 lbs no issues on the drive back thru mtns back home, thinking this def is not normal gonna have it towed to a different dealer to have oil diagnostic and code read and oil screened for any possible metal particulates due to running so low any other suggestions on having them check other possible issues ? Will be having it towed tommorow
Ever heard of any similar issues ?
    Also just turned 67k mileage

Can you get a scanner, or borrow one form AutoZone to read the code(s) that’ll help narrow it down

What has the oil pressure gauge been reading lately? Have you checked coolant for oil floating in it?

Is oil sprayed on under carriage, like a film all over from under the cab back to the rear axle?

While on boat subject, relocate your rear axle vent before you start heading to boat ramps, just saw a water damaged rear end from lake water last week. Not pretty!

Thanks got code read tonight and HE SAID IT READ. P0014
And they said exhaust cam BBT SOLENOID advanced timing ? This was at auto zone its getting towed in tommorow to different toyota dealership not the one who did the 65k service less than 2 k ago exactly 3 weeks on Friday told dealer to pressure test as they're def is a leak saw a few spots on the wife's spot ( gravel ) we alternate spots weekly that's where I parked all last week depending on outcome of where leak is will def be in contact with dealership who did 65k service as I'm thinking there's no way 6 qts of oil should leak out over 3 weeks unless they forgot to tighten or put gasket back on correctly but I'm sure I'll find out and I'm thinking possible damage if the pressure test confirms where it's leaking was their fault ill be contacting my attorney never fails as next week was my install day( different company who specializes in 4x4 lifts on tundras has done 50+) for the 10k worth of parts for my custom lift wheels tires etc.....just hope my motor doesn't have irreversible damage

Hmm, sounds like you have a plan of sorts. Wish you good luck. Post what is determined when you can.

So, basically you are saying that the housing caused a slow leak, correct?

Oil housing, as in oil filter housing?
Did the other dealership not notice that it was not correct when they did your oil change? Or maybe the didn't notice because they didn't actually change your filter?
Are you sure its an aftermarket and not just an all metal one to replace the craptastic plastic stocker? Lots of folks do that to their Tundras.
Have them show you the part in question and take a pic and post it up here for verification.
Either way, I doubt Chrysler would swap that part out just doing an oil change on a trade in.
My bet is the first dealership that did the work screwed something up, either over or under tightened the housing or something causing it to leak.

you had an exhaust cam timing code set after a near catastrophic loss of oil.

That is not good and I am the absolute last person who will cry chicken little on an automotive forum.

That situation could mean that there was insufficient oil flow to cam phasers to actuate them.

If you are lucky there is no mechanical damage.
