I am thinking of moving into a tundra from my current 2015 Silverad Z/71 and have a couple questions. I am looking at a 2018 SR5 crew max with the sr5 upgrade package and trd off road as well as bed mat and all weather mats and still plates. The best price I have gotten on the truck so far is $41,100, does this seem fair? I have looked all around the surrounding areas of Chattanooga , tn but this is best I have found. Thank you in advance for the help.

Assuming that has the 5.7L and is a 4x4 I would say it is fair based on what I have seen. Make the jump! You will be glad you did!

Yeah I guess I should have probably said that. It is the 5.7 and 4x4.

Your goal should be around $4,000-$5,000 off sticker with included fees. Then add your taxes.

Email as many dealers as you are wiling to drive to get the best deal. Start working them against each other.

Okay sounds like I am on the right track then because the sticker is 45338 on it. I think I am going to offer around 40500 and try for that. I have been talking with other dealers in the area and they seem to be around 1000 higher. My next question is they quoted me 2500 for the 7 year 100k warranty and that sounds high. Opinions?

If you have time. Try to do it thru emails or text and have the dealers work for you. If they have the same vehicle color and model you want of course. My MSRP on the platinum was 52415 and i got them down to 45895

My sticker price was 49k. I ended up paying 44k. It is a 2018 sr5 crewmax with the TRD off road package. It has the 5.7 and is 4x4. It came with the blacked out package, steps bars, a step bar in the front, sprayed in bedliner and console safe. I then got them to throw in leather seats, seat warmers and remote start at no additional cost. Hope that helps.

$49k for an SR5? I think the extras for "no additional cost" was built into that sticker price...

Not that I can do anything about it now but is that a horrible price for what I got? Anyone have a similar truck with all the features but pay significantly less?

@347pewterz I wouldn't buy the extended warranty now. If you eventually want it or even if you want it right after you buy your truck you can buy it up until the Factory 3/36k bumper to bumper warranty expires. You can shop around for this through any dealer in the nation. Just make sure it is a true Toyota extended warranty. If you do some research through google you can find some dealers that be significantly lower than the price you were quoted.

I bought mine back in September when the rebate was only $750, but I paid $44,800 (plus $300 and change for title/license, no tax in OR). Sticker was $49,514.

I'm not necessarily saying you got a bad price, but they definitely charged you for all the extras, likely with quite a bit of markup. I bet retail for all of those extras is somewhere around $1k.

Hey @BuckWallace - which dealership did you work with, and were you happy with them? It seems like Beaverton Toyota has some of the the lowest starting prices, but I’m just beginning my search, and am willing to travel throughout Oregon for the right truck and price.

Yeah, Beaverton and Wilsonville will advertise the lowest price, but they literally will not negotiate at all. I got mine at Toyota of Gladstone. I was happy with them overall, but they started off assuming I was an idiot and quoted me a price OVER sticker. After I laughed that off and battled through a few sales managers telling me they could get me a good deal on a 2017 and blah blah blah, they finally started working with me on the 2018. I felt like I did pretty well considering they just hit the lots in my area and there were a lot of 2017s still on the lot.

Well you got me wondering. I looked up Gladstone Toyota and for my truck minus the predators steps on sides and front, security box in console, black tailgate badge and side badges, leather seats and seat warmers, remote start, spray in bedliner their starting price is just under 46k. It does have 20in wheels and mine doesn’t. I would say I did well on the 44k

Yeah, Gladstone's advertised starting price on their website is usually just MSRP.

This is what Beaverton advertises as their "one price" (can't negotiate) for an SR5 with TRD package. You can usually do $1-2k better at a dealer that will actually negotiate. I also didn't really pay attention to the fact they threw in leather and heated seats, so I don't think you got a bad deal. Either way, if you feel like you got a good deal then that's all that matters!

I am not trying to argue but that truck does not have near the extras mine came with and a smaller gas tank and no navigation.

I bought my truck at Beaverton a few days ago, their price online was better than Gladstone and wilsonville. Plus they had the white trd sport while Gladstone had only black and Barcelona red.
I didn't negotiate lower on the tundra but my wife bought a new 4runner at the same time so we did really well on the price of the 4runner. 2 new vehicles at the same time made the salesman happy for sure.

Yes, Beaverton always advertises less than most other places, but you can always negotiate better at those other places. Gladstone advertised the truck I bought at MSRP, but I was able to get it for about $1k less than Beaverton was advertising the exact same truck for; I actually even used Beaverton's price as leverage when negotiating. A lot of people like not having to haggle while still getting a decent deal, so "one price" dealers like Beaverton and Wilsonville work great for them.

Not trying to argue here, either. Like I said, I didn't originally pay attention to the fact that you got leather and heated seats, so you definitely didn't get a bad deal. Honestly, the leather in the Limited sucks anyway, so you probably ended up with nicer leather than if you got a Limited. If the SR5s had leather steering wheels and dual climate control I would have just did something like you did and added leather later.

Anyway, congrats on your new rig!

I wish I had dual climate control, I mean a 50K truck should have an Oh Shit Handles and dual climate control as standard features.

I had several F-150's prior to buying my (first) Tundra and I have no regrets whatsoever. What brand are you driving now?

One thing about the Tundra, it is the most boring truck I ever owned.....it never has any problems and I don't get to see the dealer anymore on a regular basis as I did driving Ford.;)
