Tundra got t-boned from somebody running a stop sign. Appraisal came in at 8k. Hoping body shop finds more damage for it to be totaled. Anybody have similar experience.12DFFFDD-66F2-4966-8AF4-FBBA69AFF57D.jpg

That's gonna be alot more than 8k. It'll be a minimum 2k just to replace to bedside fender. At least that's what I was quoted on a bed fender replacement, and that's not including any supports for it.

But you also need a new driveshaft, complete axle assembly, leaf springs, shocks, probably leaf spring and shock mounts, brake lines, wheel sensors, wheels, tires, etc.

Wouldn't be surprised if the frame is bent.

Was anyone injured? About 10 days ago, another member had a similar hit on the other side, as of a little while ago his damage estimate is about 12k. Might snoop around the forums, it's a really recent post. As said above, your truck frame has likely sustained some damage. These trucks are kinda weak in the "structural integrity dept."

Hopefully nobody was injured. That looks like about $12k + worth of damage.

Thanks for the feedback. Truck was towed to a very good body shop which I have used in the past. Dont think they will be looking at for a couple more weeks. All body shops backed up because delay in getting parts. I do think this will be over 8k as well.

Man, that sucks. I think the 8K would account for the bed if they were going to do the work to reshape and paint it, but not all the other things attached to it as well. Seems low to me. Do you know if the other side of the bed was torqued enough to kiss the cab and cause any damage there?

    Couple things I would do:

1st would be to start researching your state's laws on Diminished Value claims. You're truck will never be worth what it was before the accident, and some states let you file a claim for that lost value. Might help in pushing it toward the total line.

2nd I'd be asking the shop to do a really thorough inspection of the transmission. Ripping the drive line out of it can cause internal damage to all kinds of things. Again, this might move it closer to the total verdict.

All, thanks for the great tips. My state does not have diminished value so I’ll def take a hit if it’s not totaled. Still waiting on body shop to start working on it.

Like others have said, it’s not just body work. Axle, drive shaft, shackles, bed, transmission, transfer case, your noggin, other people’s noggins (if they were in there), your anxiety, my anxiety from reading this post, other peoples’ anxiety from this post, on and on,. You get the point.

So sorry that happened. Looks like a whole new bed to me and you should stress that to the body shop. One thing for sure it’s going to be pricey. The rear end needs to be gone thru, etc etc etc. I am surprise the rear frame isn’t bent?? What state?? All the best! Hoping everything gets resolved.

They'll probably get you a pile of used parts, including a whole bed, rear end.... lots of little parts but it's not THAT bad. Frame will have to be checked first to see if anything needs pulling. I'd say you'll get your truck back.
